No, I just have terrible eyesight and thought the OP wrote pounds instead of dollars.
Yup, outside of the UK, the distributor controls that aspect of the relationship.

As soon as the technician has driven off, cables will be upgraded, with ball bearings and nuts inserted beneath each piece of equipment.
Indeed. My system wouldn’t sound half as good as it does now if I didn’t have the reference point of listening to your system. Setup is key.
Not in UK, but is the vendor a Naim dealer ?
I am located in Seattle, WA and the dealer I purchased my Naim componets from was always willing to come out and set up. Some items I was happy to do myself, others I preferred the vendor performing the service.
No, assuming you bought the devices at retail prices with associated retailer margins.
Thinking about this, my dealer has never installed any of my naim kit. Ive always gone and picked it up. Then again, ive never asked to have it installed. My be im missing out.
It is a pity that the topic starter does not indicate exactly what work has been done by the dealer. When it comes to drilling holes and running cables through a basement, I can imagine something…
here in england my dealer delivered and installed my naim system together with 2 pairs of demo speakers. and then replaced them with my chosen speakers. they collected my lp12 for service/upgrade and delivered it back and installed. they are 40 miles away so a fair amount of travel. but i did pay full retail for the naim equipment as i felt the excellent customer service deserved it and businesses need to be profitable else they won’t be there in future. they gave me £1000 discount on the speakers and free 8m runs of naca5 so overall very happy. but i can see that in many overseas regions the distances can be much greater and installation does become problematic and the newer kit is perhaps less fussy over installation?
All these answers, yet no further response from the OP.
DG….
“The dealer is from New York, and the technician is supposed to install the equipment (Naim preamp, amp, streamer, and speakers).”
All participants are from Manhattan!
My dealer takes around 500 euros if he has to install what you bought from him. I find it incredible.
But however I know very well the guys working with this new dealer, who replaced the ex one I knew since 20 years.
They mostly run the shop, as the dealer is quite never there, only for occasions.
Last year I bought an NC 250, with a very good decrease ( Naim week) , 30% off. Can’t complain.
And you are also in Manhattan, or somewhere else? Did you buy from the dealer or from elsewhere? Did you pay full retail or a discount?
It’s difficult to judge here without knowing all the facts.
If you are in America, you pay for everything
I suppose the question is then whether you actually need installation, or whether you can do it yourself. The dealer margin is significant and as you are local they really should offer to come round - if not to install it then to check it over once you’ve done it. It depends how confident you feel. That said, if you’ve been given a big discount then something has to give and that may be the installation.
There’s no free lunches in Manhattan!
Like others say, difficult to comment with no location and details, but in 35 years as a Naim user in the UK i have never been offered install of gear. I don’t mind as I know what I’m doing though.

Thank you very much, guys, for the very informative responses, and I apologize for not answering your questions earlier due to an overseas trip. I live in Manhattan, where I previously bought a full-priced system from the dealer. He is very nice and helpful, and we have had many discussions about sound and politics. He even suggested that he would come to my apartment to see the setting. This is why I was a little surprised and even disappointed when I asked him for a quote for a system that includes a Nap 250, nsc222, cables, and high-end speakers (which comes from a different dealer and has a 10% discount). I have no problem installing it myself, and he knows this. I can connect a streamer to the network blindfolded.
I haven’t purchased the equipment yet; it’s only a quote that, although I asked for a discount, I received at the full price including the delivery of white gloves for $500 and a note at the bottom of the quote stating that the technician’s fee is $200 per hour for installation. I asked for your opinions on the price for installation because I’ve only been living in New York for a year and am not familiar with the customary norms here.
200 an hour sounds like quite a lot! I guess it comes down to:
