I liked my Rega Fono and Aria. But for my SL-1200G I am using a Graham Slee Jazz Club, so I can EQ anything correctly, including 78’s, which I do have. There are distinct settings for very old LP’s, too, which I have not needed, so far.

Building a bit on this one; anyone with experience of the PS in the small Rega integrateds - Brio or IO?
I’m about to pull the trigger on a Fono MM MK5 but gave it some pause as I’ve always been intrigued by the little amps. Any feedback appreciated.
Nice! It’s hard not to recommend the gear that you own, because if you own it it’s highly likely you thought long and hard before buying it and chose what you thought sounded best, had the features you needed, for the budget you had. I have no issues recommending Graham Slee stages, and love mine. Small unassuming boxes, but do sound excellent!
I am loving my Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 SE ![]()
never been tempted by valve? I’ve read that it’s softens the 1200g analytical nature
Sometimes! I had an eBay search running for an Ear 834 for a while. But not to soften the 1200G, I auditioned it against Gyrodec and Origin Live decks, and found it pretty evenly matched against them for sound, none really stood above the others across the board though. In a good way, meant I could choose based on ease of use.
Might try valve stage at some point, likely think about it if I ever go MC. But thoroughly enjoying what I have at the moment ![]()
Ear 88pb. End of game. No hum, no hiss, little box, prat, dynamics, bass, and colourful sound.
@frenchrooster I think you have the pre? The 912? How have you found post sale support?
Naturally, when looking at EAR phono stages, one finds oneself looking further up the range
I had looked at those too, but a bit beyond my budget ![]()
Your experience with EAR definitely contributed to me spending a bit of time looking into them.
I needed no support, because all was good and is good since 2010. But the Ear France guy is very friendly and can help.
Ah very good to know, thanks
