Pink Floyd WYWH

They need to recover their outlay.

It’s called riding the gravy train

Really? I’ve just pre-ordered it from Amazon….

Two CDs for 18,71 €, impossible to avoid. Will arrive 20th December.

Grab that cash in both hands and make a stash

Just listening to the original Mike Millard tape of LA 75, it’s pretty damn good and I am very much enjoying it. Will be very much interested on how it is improved on this release by Steven Wilson…I think it might be rather marvellous.

Does somebody know which masters they are going to use for the vinyl edition? The original master or some later remix?
I ask this because I bought DSM “new” on vinyl 180g blablabla, and it sounds depressing compared to my original DSM on white Vinyl. They must have used a 16bit/44.1 master, so CD quality pressed on vinyl, even the SACD sounds better. So why bothering buying vinyl in case the source is CD quality?
I just have seen the 50th WYWH offered by amazon.de (pre-order)

I’m more interested in the 1975 concert, than another version of WYWH ( I think I’ve already got three…including the original LP - that’s vinyl for our younger members!).

Going by the notes above from @DrDavid of LA 75, I’m hoping for a good sound, of at least the standard of the Beeb’s November 74 Wemberley recording.

I’ll keep an eye on the up-front reviews (somebody will leak it) and cancel the order if it ain’t up to scratch,

It’s not in the league of the Wembley 74 shows which were professionally recorded on 16 track tape.

The June 1975 show was recorded by the late Mike Millard on a Nakamichi 550 with two vintage AKG mics. It’s an audience bootleg recording but absolutely stunning. It’s also a far, far better performance by the group than the ‘74 shows.

Hmmm. That does not fill me with confidence. Is there a “leak” around on t’internet so I can gauge the SQ as compared with Wemberley?

Heck, I remember December 74 in Manchester as being pretty good, even though I was “up in the Gods” at the Palace!

Edit: found a yootoob accredited to Millard - disappointingly thin and reedy SQ. I was really only interested in the concert - I don’t need yet another rendition of WYWH - so sadly the pre-order is destined for the chop!

…. And we’re off, just caught a trailer on Sky for an American crime drama with WYWH as the backing track. How the mighty have fallen

To me, most of the bonus tracks seem like reasons to not buy it , however the live recording could be very interesting if recorded well: I assume not a bootleg concert as said by Moondrifter, but a bootleg recording…. and unfortunately the term bootleg doesn’t encourage thought of good recording quality.

Google for “Pink Floyd LA 75”. It’ll find the Millard bootleg.
Give us your thoughts.

I have been to the L.A. Sports Arena many times.
I had no idea something so momentous happened there!

Again … Pink Floyd …

I love Pink Floyd but … We have enough LP

It’s « Time » to discover new artists.

Despite it be one of my all time favourites I didn’t pull the trigger on the dark side of the moon 50th - price, value and content didn’t do it for me….

Likely I’ll see how the reviews go for WYWH (I have the immersion sets and multiple copes on vinyl already)

Ordered the BluRay for a friend, but it is still being shown on Amazon as a pre- order

It isn’t released until December 2025
