Playlists in App Don't Work At All (iOS App)

Just when I thought it was all going so well… NDS, new iPad and NAS, and things with the Naim streaming app were going great, stable, reasonably responsive… then I decided to have a look at my playlists: as you can see, it’s claiming that the server is offline when, in fact, it is very much online. Every single one of my playlists is displaying this behaviour.

I can play any of these tracks from their albums and I have exactly the same playlists on my WiiM Home app and can play them no problem from there so, obviously, no server problem and my NDS is on the latest firmware (4.8.0.0) and app is latest 7.0.1 so, what’s going on…?

Ah ha, no system details in profile, thread title is we assume re iOS app but no detail as to where these playlists have been created.
No wish to be pedantic but seriously TimD, difficult to understand what the issue is and how to advise.
Multiple playlists across various streamers and from various sources, no issues.

If this is Tidal and you have updated firmware, click on the Tidal button on the app and re-login

Sorry, all Playlists created on the Naim app, all files resident on Synology NAS. No streaming services used.

ignore my response then

No worries and cudos for fast response. So, useful to know how many playlists and the number of tracks within playlist.
Will seem perverse, but totals / limits have caused issues before for others.

Useful if you can amend the thread to iOS app - useful in future searches!

@sound-hound
At present there are four playlists, none of which contain more than twenty songs.

I’ve found these playlists to be prone to corruption from the very first day the Naim app was launched. It’s unfortunate, but I find a reliable way to create and manage playlists is on the server instead of the streamer app. You then see them listed in the UPnP input, and can play them from there.
Depending on which server you use, this can be more hassle than using the Naim app. It’s something that Naim servers do well compared to others despite their otherwise limited functionality.

Seems you have missed the ‘vast’ playlists that some peps have had issues with.

Wise suggestion from @ChrisSU - just an alternate, copy the playlists to one or more usb sticks; easy to play, edit, update.

Worth mentioning, although appreciate you don’t use streaming services TimD, that playlists from Tidal and Qobuz do work just fine in the iOS app, for anyone reading.

Thanks, everyone, looks like I’m going to have to create playlists using MinimServer… more learning to do… That, I suppose, will also get around the problem of moving playlists in the Naim app to a new device…

Rhe problem with creating playlists on the likes of Minimserver is that you have to sit down and make a conscious effort to do it on a computer. For me, adding a track to a playlist is often a spur of the moment decision when I hear a track I like, so doing it on an easily accessed iOS app is a requirement.

@ChrisSU I know what you mean…!!!

Apparently, MP3Tag can create and export .m3u playlists on the Mac, so I’ll look into that… but I agree it would be nice to be able to do it directly on the iPad…

I’m not aware of any way to create playlists on an app other than using Naim servers or Roon. There probably are others, not sure if Aurdirvana, Innuos Sense, Bubble or some such would be worth investigating.
