I have an Atom and PMC 21 speakers too. The latter replaced a pair of MA Studio 2SEs and the improvement in the bass in particular was fantastic.
One of the reasons I bought them was because they could sit very close to a rear wall.
I already had an Arcam Logo sub to augment the Monitor Audios and whilst its need is much diminished with the PMCs, I still use it nonetheless
