Just been looking through stories on line this morning and it appears that Project are releasing a “Portable Hifi System,” Amp, speakers etc in a flight case
I know I am in my middle 60,s and memory can play tricks but didn’t Naim do something back in the 80,s with Nait 1, Wharfedale Diamonds, and a Sony Prof Walkman
Probably completely barking up the wrong tree but something is tugging the grey cells
You’re right - it was a dealer called the Cornflake Shop. Walkman pro, Nait-1 and Wharfedale Diamonds. A couple of pics on previous threads if you do a search.
To be fair, turntable, amp, and speakers in a flight/suitcase is a form factor that has been around unbroken since the 50s.
My mum had one.
It makes a lot of sense. People have the space for a proper but small hifi. They can go higher than a Muso. But they are renting and moving a fair bit. Fold it into a box that’s permanently attached to the gear and sling it in the boot.
However, a record collection is more of an issue. Less portable. I can imagine how a Naim CI102 built directly into a case with a pair of decent speakers hard wired to it (nothing to hook up, just 8m of speaker cable on an auto coil) would sell very well. Perhaps even natty popup open frame stands affixed to the bottom of the speakers.
