Possibly old news but well done Qobuz

They seem to have reintroduced zip file downloads for whole albums on the web interface.

Usefulness may depend on whether or not hi-res artwork/PDF booklets are included.

My thinking says if we’ve got simple zip downloads, and the loss of .pdf booklets that I probably read just the once at best, YES, good move.

The downloader app is now much better and gets used regularly.

The main reason I use the browser download options is to get the highly detailed cover art which I’d pay extra for alone.

Haven’t yet checked if the zip files have this or lower res as they always used to (I think).

Just happy to support a company which has the customer’s interests at heart.

Indeed. Did two ZIP downloads yesterday. But they forgot to include the cover image (which can be downloaded separately)

If you use the downloader you should also get a separate higher res jpg file of art as part of the download.

That’s good to know - it only downloaded a smaller version in the past. Probably changed ages ago and I hadn’t noticed!

I still use downloader to save/backup to a different location to manual downloads but haven’t actually checked what was in the downloaded folders for recent purchases!

I’ve a funny feeling you or someone else may have mentioned the app downloading large cover art.

One caveat, is that the images are not the same:

Cover art file on the left from the browser download interface is 5.7 MB , on the right from the downloader app it’s 1.2 MB - either reduced resolution or worse compression.

Get Info in Mac’s Finder used to show the image resolution. Will check another way.

The impressive thing is 3,000 x 3,000 pixel artwork for both but presumably the one on the right is more heavily compressed.

In all honesty I can’t see much difference apart from a few hairs looking a tad softer in the smaller file from Downloader.

Only mentioning it in case others are as fussy/OCD about such things as me
