Power strip advice please

I upgraded to one of these;

Aquarius V3, from the original a couple of years ago and have been perfectly satisfied thereafter. The V5 looks very smart and I’m sure represents an incremental improvement but I just can’t justify the price .

At £1,300 I didn’t even consider it but I’m sure it’s very good

All I wanted was a well made 10 way block so chose the Olson unit

And I don’t think Isotek et al make anything larger than a 6-way device although I understand the current products may be daisy-chained, although that’ll quickly move to silly money .

That’s what I found Osiris… 10 way blocks seem quite rare

I chose the Olson because it’s hand made and wired in the UK…. Ok it might not be a ‘hifi’ unit but I’m ok with that as it seems solidly built and didn’t cost too much either

I have just received my Olson 10 way block

It seems to be a really well made item…. Unfortunately Olson didn’t remove the neon light as requested

I’ve asked them if it’s an easy fix for me to do…. shame they didn’t get my order right though

I did remove the neon myself, it’s quite a while ago, but I don’t remember it being too difficult.

It’s a shame about the neon light.

It’d be good to hear your thoughts on the quality of the construction etc, and sound quality and any improvements over that which you have been using to date.

Nina, they got your order wrong. It is simply not up to you to correct their error on the supply of new kit.

Call them, send it back and get them to fix it, FOC of course.

Send it back it’s what you used the service for. :+1:

It’s a shame Olson got my special order wrong as I particularly asked them to remove the neon light and the feed cable to be a screened version

It’s a beautifully built block though… very solid….nothing fancy but very British, I love that

Took it apart tonight and, as I expected, it’s beautifully hand wired and soldered inside

I’ve removed the neon light wires and removed the light as well… it’s easy to undo something when it’s hand made

I’ve contacted Olson all the same just to let them know their mistake

The quality of the construction G5211 is extremely good on the Olson, all hand wired and soldered where necessary

I’ve not yet installed the block but will do later today sometime…. I actually don’t expect any improvements in sound but I just like to have a block that is solid and very well made and doesn’t have the word ‘hifi’ in front of it

Block is now installed

Just waiting for the amp etc to warm back up again and come ‘on song’

So far so good

Maybe it has a little bit more snap to the music… could be imagining it though … always a possibility

I thought there was a little more instrument separation and smoothness in the treble with my modified Olson (Over the shoddy Matrix 2). I replaced the cables inside with 4mm instead of the 2.5mm ones they use.

Can’t say I’ve noticed much of a difference CT but I’m still pleased I purchased it

Maybe, just maybe it sounds a bit more solid…if that’s a ‘thing’

Shouldn’t be any soldering in a mains block. :scream:

Worry not Skeptikal

Only solder joint was the two wires for the neon light attached to neg & pos wires of the first outlet but I’ve now removed the wires and light

Good job.
Just fit and don’t worry.
These things can be taken way too far. :+1:
