I am constantly surprised at the look of horror that often crosses the face of even the best players when they receive the ball from colleagues, usually the goalkeeper, anywhere near their own penalty box.
Week after week, MOTD shows sides, even the better ones, in complete panic due to a slightly misplaced pass attempting to play out from the back when a long clearence/pass would appear the more sensible option.
Also, many keepers passing ability clearly shows why they are goalkeepers & not outfield players!
Playing out from the back is a good tactic to employ on occasions but, even Man. City show, not all the time.
I really don’t like this ‘passing it from the keeper’ malarky. You need really, really good players to do it successfully, including a keeper that it comfortable with the ball at his feet and can use both. Few teams have that. Southampton’s persistence at this is particularly puzzling. Why sign Ramsdale when you want to play this way? He’s a decent keeper but not with the ball at his feet. It’s unfair to expect him to play that way.
Big game in the UCL at the Emirates tonight Mikel Arteta’s red & white army take on Paris Saint Germain. Both Louis Enrique’s and Mikel Arteta’s sides are unbeaten in their respective leagues and PSG minus the Hollywood superstars look right a real team so it should be a good match.
I was concerned about his style of play last season. I am afraid that he’s been “found out”.
We were patently not ready last season for life in the Prem, but money talks. So we’ll take the 180£mil and run. And next season I’ll reactivate my ST!
It’s about where we want to be, for me. Our view of ourselves as a city. To be among the big boys, to be talked about, to take part in the whole media spectacle, to pit ourselves against Salah, De Bruyne, Jota, Foden, Cole Palmer etc. We might be making up the numbers in the Prem but it is still the Prem.
Great win for The Arsenal against PSG King Kai Havertz has 6 goals in 6 consecutive home games just one off the great Thierry Henry’s club record.
PSG just couldn’t get near us let alone lay a glove on us Leandro Trossard was MoM new signing Calafiori was excellent again and a huge bonus was Mikel Merino coming on for his club debut after dislocating his shoulder during his first training session.
ETH says “there’s nothing to panic about”. @keanoking you can rest easy now.
Saka says “I don’t want to put too much pressure on us but I do think that this is the year [Arsenal win the title],”
Hah !! Talk about put too much pressure on themselves
Methinks some peoples comments will come back and bite them on the bum !
And we football fans have a long memory…
