Jose Mourinho appointed manager at Benfica.
Chelsea’s next Champions League game?
Home to Benfica.
You couldn’t make it up
I’ve decided not to watch the Newcastle match*, but wishing Andy Blain and every other Georgie the best of luck.
To think the Mancs are so good they can manage without Rashford?
Nothing much to say really. A great night, but at that level you have to take your chances. You can start with Barnes, or bring on Willock, against Brentford, Leeds or Fulham (with respect), but you can’t get away with it at this level.
Not disgraced, and the other matches will decide if we progress, not this one…![]()

Rashford scores 2 goals against Saudi Arabia and suddenly he is the best thing around. I just hope Barcelona have the money to buy him.
There is undoubtedly some real footballing talent there; it’s just a shame that all too frequently his attitude isn’t also at that level. Most ManU supporters that I know were very glad to see him go.
Especially not at O or A level …
Give him credit for what he did on the night though (he probably won’t score again this season)
Reckon I’d have a bad attitude if I played for the Mancs and suffered the years of mismanagement/the revolving management door as the years (footballers have a short career) rolled by.
I’ve just seen Rashford’s second goal - sheer class
I was level with that shot and it went like a rocket.
Over the years, Rashford has been one of the most enigmatic players I’ve ever seen. In successive games he can either be anonymous or a world-beater. Unfortunately (for me), last night it was the latter…
Now he didn’t make it much easier himself. With bad advice from his brother and out on the nightlife the day before the match.
But those are two good goals he scores, but let’s see later in the season.
Would it be fair to say Ferguson (and other great man managers) would have kept him in line/got the best out of him/played to his strengths? I think so. But I’m happy to accept you’re better off without him ![]()
The question is whether he would have behaved like this under Ferguson. It’s hard to know, but Ferguson was quick to get rid of players who didn’t live up to his standards.
That would be why he went supine on Cantona when he should have been hoofed. Ferguson used loophole lawyer to avoid a road traffic offence you and I would have got points for. But he was a great manager and he would surely have avoided Anthony & got the best out of Rashford who is a genuine talent (imo).
Following a dreadful start, with some woeful defending gifting an early goal to Wolves, The Mighty Whites slowly got their act together and played themselves back into the game.
Three of the summer signings, Calvert-Lewin, Stach and Okafor got their first Leeds goals, which has improved our goal difference figure, and resulted in us surging up the table to ninth position, temporarily, I’m sure.
Still, three goals scored from open play is an improvement on where we were before today, so keep 'em coming chaps.
M.O.T.
We deserved our victory. Bit nervy 2nd half as a result of giving the ball away but excellent defending & a top performance from Darlow saw us through nicely. Stiffer tests to come. For now we can enjoy motd.
Another dismal afternoon at the Dildodrome. I don’t know why I bother, really I don’t. Brian Potter must go, along with the pint sized porn lord and his sidekick Lady Muck.
He must at least have bought a nice house out of his Chelsea money though.
And then one for his mum from West Ham.
