The charges against City will just gradually fade away and disappear, I fear. The PL will continue to protect City (and the rest of the Septic 6) as they seek to avoid any breakaway into a so-called European ‘super league’. Deducting points/relegating City would not be a good look for the EPL’s global product.
Meanwhile, in other news, Leicester City take a kicking…
The good news is Pep will leave this summer and leave behind a group of very talented individuals but not a team without him and the guarantee of top trophies gone they will fail to attract proper players.
Foxes deserve their punishment. Been playing fast and loose with FFP rules since their 13/14 promotion season. Both the EPL and FL struggling to catch up with them until now.
I’m not saying Leicesters punishment is wrong. The point I was making is that it may have been different if it was one of the Septic 6. The Premier League is anti-competitive.
The whole thing makes me angry @bhoyo (as you may have gathered ).
Elliott Anderson will end up at a “top 6” club in the summer, as they’ll be able to pay wages which Forest simply can’t match. I often wonder what would have happened if we’d deliberately breached PSR rules and kept Anderson and Minteh. Probably a drawn out 6 point (2wins!!) ban. Not in the spirit of the game though. Next season the new SCR rules should help things somewhat, but we’ll see
I agree. With Foxes the authorities are fighting rich people. With City they’re fighting a rich Country. The battle was lost when we sold our clubs to the highest bidders.
There are still wholesome stories to be told, thankfully. One of the best might happen this weekend when ‘a young lad from Leeds who evolved to set standards for hard work, professionalism and longevity - and earn respect from fans all over the world’ could equal the EPL appearance record. I saw Milner score his first goal at ER v Chelsea (I think). My brother in law sat on the row in front of Milner’s dad for years so we were always up to date on all things Milner. That we couldn’t hang on to him and never brought him home is a huge regret. I hope he goes on to break the record this season.
Andy your team is owned by the investment arm of the Saudi Royal family your position for looking down on any teams owners is not a viable one I’m afraid.
I don’t think you have read my posts, Bob? I haven’t criticised any other clubs owners.
It’s the anti-competitive financial rules imposed by the EPL that I was commenting on. In particular, the way in which they currently favour the Septic 6. Hey ho, onto the next game - big one tomorrow against Brentford. I cannot stand Arsenal, purely because of Arteta, but I hope you win tomorrow.
He was great at Newcastle. His honesty and work ethic was an example to some of the more technically gifted (generally foreign!) players we had at the time. Great pro.
