Premier League Football 25/26

Pretty much our championship side plus 1 free signing & a couple of bargain buys. We took City to the 96th minute when 2 or 3 of their players collapsed onto the deck exhausted. Paupers v billionaires. We should have been ahead before the half hour when City turned up the wick and we struggled to cope. They scored. City started the 2nd half well enough but by the end we looked the team most likely to score. They have the quality we lack. No surprise given the difference in spend. Farke was incensed. No surprise. Far too many big club decisions from the ref. We ended the game head held high but there’s no points for pride. Bigger fish for lufc on Tuesday.

City doing what they do, especially at this time in a season.

Not pretty. Grinding out the results and putting pressure on those at the top of the table.

Squeaky bum times at our noisy neighbours now. Will they crack ?

A bad day yesterday. We shot ourselves in the foot twice, both times immediately after going ahead. The 3rd goal we conceded was unforgivable by Gordon, who was immediately substituted. Prima Donna.

You cannot compete at the top without a decent goalscorer and a good goalkeeper. Newcastle have neither. If we go out of the FA Cup and the CL (which I expect) then lose against The Mackems, the tide will turn against Eddie. A very poor season in the league. Disappointing :black_heart::white_heart:

Having seen the remaining 10 fixtures for Leeds, I am more confident that we will stay up. 3 wins should do it. Fingers crossed.

+35 points has been fine the last few years , so even one win and one draw will do you fine.

though it’s a few million quid per position in the table (in prize money), So more than worthwhile to aim higher

We have won 1 in 4 games. We have 10 games left so 2 victories might be expected. We draw 1 in 3 games so 3 points might be expected. That’s 9 points for a total of 40 points which should be enough. But we’re still in a relegation battle for sure. Hope the players realise that (I’m sure they do) and hope we don’t go to the athletic stadium for game 38 needing something from the game. 3 points on Tuesday would go some way to calming my nerves and I really want to finish above Makems. We should really be finishing above a side which came up through the play offs.

Sunderland, Wolves and Burnley at home, good chance to pick up a few points away as well - we have played most of the big teams and picked up points so I think we will be ok.

I tend to fear the worst so Makems have Xhaka back, Wolves are finding their feet and we never beat Burnley  Truth is, with our run in we don’t deserve to stay up if we don’t get sufficient points. We do need to keep one or two key players fit though.

Xhaka went off injured yesterday, but I’m not sure how bad it is. Win midweek (:crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:) and you’ll be fine. Leeds’ performances have been good, unlike my teams, and we are not safe yet…

Many thanks to both Fulham and Brighton this afternoon, their respective victories helping keep Spuds and Florist where they belong … … … below The Mighty Whites in’t table.

Cheers, chaps. :+1:

Forest showing true relegation form today. We don’t have a striker who can score and, what’s more, our defence were badly exposed by slick work from the Brighton front men today. I think the Europa League has been a distraction from our main priority.

The Toon are definitely struggling. The squad just doesn’t have the depth to cope with 2 games a week which is what we are currently playing. I think we are up to 45 games already and losing some key players to injury has been tough, especially when our summer signings really haven’t shown up yet. Ramsey is starting to look decent but Nick W is fading and looks out of sorts and Elanga and Wissa have done squat so far.

It is going to be harder in the summer to recruit decent players without the lure of European football and we could lose some of our “better” players.

All in all very frustrating to far

Watching the Arsenal-Chelsea match, why does every corner degenerate into a rugby scrum? I certainly don’t envy the job of a referee, but somehow things have got to change across the PL. Maybe next season?

For the life of me I couldn’t work out how Declan Rice didn’t give away a penalty in the first half. Never mind the fact that he clearly moved his arm up into the trajectory of the ball, he had both arms draped over the Chelsea player and stopped him from jumping. Surely that should have been given by the useless VAR?

I agree with you.

The game was not a good watch. Corners were a lottery.

You’re welcome mate.

You’re pretty much over the line and will be fine but I’d suggest your owners have some big decisions to make. You need next level players & more of them imo. How will you attract them to the NEast? On a general point I think clubs end up playing in Europe before they’re ready, the league format is demanding of time & fitness rather than quality & squads aren’t big enough to cope. League form suffers as a result.

A good summary @GraemeBC I hate saying it, but it might get worse in the next 14 days, with the fixtures coming. It won’t stop me going to Barcelona though :black_heart::white_heart:

I gave up whinging about refereeing decisions a long time ago because the refs and VAR are so S*** that one will almost certainly come back in your favour eventually. It’s six of one and half a dozen of the others when it comes to corners so no point moaning about those either.

Like us a few seasons ago Chelsea have a huge discipline problem which is born out of having too many young and inexperienced players and until they deal with that they’ll struggle.

Anyway it’s 5 points difference at the top again!!
