‘Boring, Boring Arsenal’, ‘Same Old Arsenal Always Cheating’ it’s all water off a ducks back

Banter FC, Arsenal play pretty football but are too soft and should learn to be a bit nasty Arsenal are too nasty, boring and pragmatic and should play pretty football I’ve heard it all over the past 40 odd years.

It is not Arsenal’s job to entertain the supporters of their rivals nor the wider footballing world
it is though the job of our rivals to beats us and if we are so boring an terrible then you should all be able to do so.

A table to show you all which is quite funny actually after what was this weeks Arsenal agenda led by Fabian Hurzeler funny because his team have the ball in a play on average 4th least in the PL whilst the team he, many of his players and much of the footballing media attacked as time wasting keep the ball in play on average 6th most in the PL.

Arsenal’s total time delay of 30 minutes and 51 second was the 22nd highest this season and was actually 4 minutes lower than the average least time set by Leeds.

All of you must admit that the ways in which our lot manage to self destruct is very impressive.

But at least we don’t cheat.

Looks like those mighty warriors of justice, the moral code keepers tottenham dropspur are edging closer to the drop heads held high, waving the banner for proud losers everywhere
those hapless spuds are daring to do.

Remaining relegation spot is now a four horse race. Can Lufc’s championship team survive against the far superior squads of premier league giants? Both Forest & ourselves have to play Spurs. This isn’t fun. Next season, 6 play off spots in the Championship will be.

Spurs are an absolutely spineless football club in the middle of the biggest crisis in their modern history their Captain gets himself sent off, they go from being 1 up to 3-1 down in a matter of minutes and their own fans leave the stadium in their thousands before half time.

This is a team in crisis battling relegation and their own fans are deserting them halfway through a match. Sad.

Their fans did indeed desert in droves - it was sad to see.

Spurs problems are way above the manager.

VAR showing that Ismaila Sarr’s nose was definitely offside for his disallowed first goal against the Mashed Spuds last night. Honestly

The thing is @crispyduck , you can legitimately score with your nose. From 35 yards!!! The whole thing is a joke.

His hand, which is now a legitimate tool to be used at corners, is clearly offside.

Another VAR issue popped up on Wednesday in the second half against arsenal. Trossard received a pass and was a good few metres offside but the lino kept his flag down (as is they way now) in case there was a goal that would need a VAR check. Torssards shot was deflected for a corner. No VAR check for corners , so they gained a corner from an offside.

I personally like VAR because it’s better than the situation a few years ago when the ref was constantly being surrounded by players (and which also stopped the flow of the game), but do wonder about how the rules written in a non VAR world relate to modern day.

And that includes offside noses !

I wonder if the rule was tweaked so that the body part (that you use to either control the ball or score from) is the only part that can be offside on a VAR check ?

I guess the problem then is that rules are meant to apply to all levels of the game. Can’t see a lino on Hackney Marshes being able to discern a hand from a nose from a foot!

Should rules be slightly different for top Leagues and internationals?

I see you like VAR so my solution wouldn’t suit you. I hate it, never wanted it & would dump it. I’d rather live with incorrect decisions made by the ref/assistant ref in real time than incorrect decisions made by someone in a video studio miles from the ground. When the offside rule was introduced offside wasn’t measured in millimetres. It was introduced to stop players seeking advantage. Sticking your nose out is hardly that. We had a headed goal disallowed v Makems because Roden’s toe cap was offside. I’m still to be convinced the technology correctly synchronises the ball leaving the foot of one player with the precise moment the receiving player moves offside. More likely, like cricket, there’s a tolerance involved which is recognised with ‘umpire’s call’.

Officiating at football is a mess. Dark arts managers capitalise on this. Players feigning injury. Choreographed in game coaching sessions etc go completely unpunished. In fact they are rewarded with victories. But the nose that’s offside, we’re having none of that!

I’ve promised myself not to talk about Arsenal again till the end of the season, so I won’t comment…
