Prince Rogers Nelson

Crazy it’s been 10 years since he passed. Been listening to his songs for 6 hours today. Haven’t had a repeat yet. What a talent

Biggest section of my collection goes to him - 2 kallax cubes all his material… and I didn’t buy lots too. And they didn’t release lots still probs also! Minneapolis genius.

I didn’t realize it’s been 10 years. I think I’ll spin some Prince tonight.

There is a big festival for the anniversary this year. My job’s HQ is Minneapolis so I am wondering if a business trip lands at just the right time.

You know if you are a mega fan because you actually like the Batman soundtrack :joy:

I played the live disc of Sign O The Times 3 times in a row yesterday. He really knew how to work a groove.

What really gets me is that he was so prolific and sure his output ebbed and flowed with the level of genius, but his last 3 albums seemed to be near the absolute height of his ability at it’s best and tragedy robbed us what was next. We all outlive our heroes if we are lucky but it doesn’t make it less surreal.

In France, a skinny man died of a big disease with a little name

By chance his girlfriend came across a needle and soon she did the same

At home there are seventeen-year-old boys and their idea of fun

Is being in a gang called ‘The Disciples’

High on crack and totin’ a machine gun

Time

Times

When I heard this the first time I felt the present was in a song in a way nobody had managed before, but also the past, and the future. For many nights my brother and I listened to Sign o’ the Times, in cassette, windows open to the hot dark air.

And The Cross. Oh, The Cross! The way people stop to listen to the track, the way they cross themselves, the way time stops when this track sounds. Surely Prince was gifted, talented, a genius, but this song is a miracle that happens every day around us.

Thank you Prince.

RIP

A trip to Paisley Park would be cool!

such a sad loss, a fantastic performer , singer , arranger , writer , producer and musician. I listen to a sound board recording of the “greatest hits tour” all the time, superb.
