Do not make fun of it.
Flattening works perfect. Sounding better after „relaxing“. They really do.
Don’t know the project machine. Looks good.
I have the not very cost effective afi flat.2.

At 5 times the cost of my deck, I’d rather just get refunds for the warped records.

I read a review on Absolute No Sound magazine. This flattener is very effective.

Agreed - but I was sick of doing this over and over again. And the records sounding better - even if flat, was a bonus.

Wow that’s a pretty serious piece of kit.. are you still using it?

I hoped that the question won’t come…:joy:. I am streaming and my TT…
I have used very barely. But I will soon get my deck a aro/umami red update. So I will have use of the flattener again.

There is a shop online offering a record flattening service I believe they use an ORB machine.
At the time I sent them 5 albums warped that the suppliers told me to keep as returns.
I sent them off and came back like new.
I must have got about £350 worth of LPs for about £50.

Hey Skeptikal!

I find that often, the tiny 1mm-2mm edge-warps can be even more sonically intrusive than the more gentle serious warps.

Does this ORB service work for the tiny edge-warps too?

Hi
One had a wavy warp and the rest were like long roller coasters and a couple of dishes.
They all came back either perfect or at worse 9/10
All were useless before but now well within my acceptance level. :+1:

I’ve been using the Vinyl Flat Record Flattener for a few years now, primarily with substantial warped discs. I can confirm that flattening vinyl records does improve the sound as well as improving the playability of the record.

Vinyl Flat is a bit of a faff to use, so I don’t use it unless there is a visible warp. I believe that machines like the Project are intended to flatten your entire record collection to remove both the warps you can see and those you cannot see.

Shipping, import duty and power supply were also inconveniences that the Project would avoid had it been available when I bought the Vinyl Flat.
