ProAC K6 Signature vs K8

Hi,

I am thinking about upgrading my ProAC D30R.

I have two offers, a new K6 Siganture and a K8 form the demoroom.

The price is nearly the same (K8 800 Euro more).

The problem is, the K8 are to far away for a listening session.

My room is 5m to 6m and I have to place the speakers near the corners on the long side.

I am not sure which offer I should buy.

Pro K8

  • former flagship from ProAC
  • top price

Pro K6 Signature

  • smaller design especially the depth
  • new

Is there anyone they heard both or can say something about one.

Mat, looking at your profile it states 'System: Naim XS. I would question if the XS line would be able to drive the K6 or K8. One member tried the K6 with a Supernait and thought it did not have the power to drive the speakers.

Could you demo the K6 at home before purchase?

The K8 would be far too much speaker for that size room. I had a pair of D48R in a bigger room than yours and the bass was out of control.

K6 perhaps ( and Only then, if you can give them lots of space).

If as your profile suggests you are using the XS range of components you are already heavily overspeakered with the D30R’s and your attention should be placed on the electronics, not the speakers.
