I recently purchased a pair of Proac Signature 10 speakers with Something Solid Stands just scratch an itch. I’m not looking at getting rid of my SBLs anytime soon but they are very good. I can’t believe such a small speaker can give out a big sound. Anyone looking at a small stand mount I would recommend these any day.
you can try them with a big amp. they are amazing.
I tried them with a NAC72/SUPERCAP/NAP300, ouaaaaaaah
the sound. my god.
now with my Nova PE, I’m plenty satisfied
(I got SBL in the past)
EDIT : I see that your amp is 2x135W/ 8ohm !! good point
Fantastically live, spacious, textural, fast, fun and emotive speakers provided you have a good source and amp to drive them. However, they don’t do volume and scale in the same way a bigger speaker can(the usual Laws of Physics apply), so as long as you keep a lid on the volume, they will fill a medium or small room like few others of their size and put a huge grin on your face in the process. Love mine!
I moved recently and struggled to get my SBLs to work and seeing as the room was smaller decided to try the Proac. Bizarrely though I got the Naims to work properly once I put the mana soundbase back underneath. Going to keep the Proac anyway as they are very good.
I bought a pair a few years ago, also to scratch an itch (I didn’t audition before buying, but I was confident they’d at least be a good match for my room).
My system is LP12 (near Klimax spec), SuperLine + Supercap, 300DR. I’m very happy with them - they may be my forever speakers.
When I was shopping for a standmount speaker a few years ago I initially looked into Proac as I had read great things about them. Imagine my shock to discover just how insanely overpriced they retail for here in Aus relative to the British RRP. Typically Aussie RRP is roughly in-line with the pound to dollar currency exchange (i.e. a hi-fi item that retails for 10K pounds would retail for around $20K AUD here more-or-less) whereas Proac bucks that trend and is about 50% more than the exchange rate. A complete non-starter for me as I refuse to be gouged.
The importer is clearly greedy beyond reasonable measure.
