Looking for a change of speaker and ProAc are on my list … anyone got any info on pairing these with my 272/250 combo …
Mainly listen to electronic but also late Radiohead , NiN etc don’t listen at high volumes
Hi, not me but I understand it works well. @HungryHalibut is your man.
The combination Works very well
I run 282/250dr with proac d40r which needs a biggish room
the d20r and D30r are also great -
ProAc and Naim pair well together. The D2R stand mount or the D20/D30 would sound great with your 272/250. I use the K6 Signatures with my 500 system and it’s a dream. Protip: go for the ribbon tweeter option.
What’s your budget and room size?
Hi
got some D30r here. Since i bought them (10years ago) i never thought to a possible upgrade.
they knew my 202/200, 252/300 and are still a perfect match with current 552/300. But, obviously i might vary with your room.
I had some Tablette 10 Signsture. They were lovely with a Supernait 3 but not good with a Nova, hence selling them. They are a fine speaker if you want something small and which goes hard against the wall. As ever with speakers, try before you buy.
Killer combination. I have never heard the combo sound less than fantastic at my dealer. Buy the right one for the room size … work with your dealer on this. If i didn’t have Quad electrostatics it would be Proacs for sure.
Hi room size is small 4.5 mtr x3.5 mtr , they will be firing across short width , I do love deep bass , budget 1.5-2k second hand , currently eyeing up either the d2r or some lovely dt8s on eBay in walnut , and yes looks are as important as sound
Great combination. When I had a 250DR I had D30R speakers, and later upgraded to K3. As others have said, the ribbon tweeters are exquisite.
12 years D28 with 282/HC/250.2 and 282/SCDR/250DR and currently 332/300/250DR with K3. Naim + Proac this is the dream alliance.
Room this size, I have experience with D28 and K1 (positive).
As Proac say in the user manual, you have to be able to keep a 10 feet 2,5 m iso triangle within this room. If I understand well LS will be firing the best way.
Not much I can add but to confirm Proac(D2R) and Naim(SN3/HiCapDr) work well together.
I have enjoyed the ProAC D2D with a Nait XS 2 and the ProAc D30RS with the SuperNait 2 and my current NAC 282/ NAP 250DR combination.
Hi yes I’ve been looking at the 28,s what are the different characteristics between the 2 , thanks
Proac D20r is playing in my room.
The quality of this speaker is very high. Also the sound quality.
The staging is next level. I can say that this speaker is capabele of a lot.
D28 had a name for necessitating an amp that delivers enough current and with a good bass control, i.e. Naim
I had taken the advice to let them stand on slate plates; this is very important because basses would boom easily with the D28s and you ban bass booming with the slates together with adding precision. Before I sold them I ran them with a Classé Audio combo that did well even if it was not “live” as Naim.
K1 is superior in all ranges while keeping the same sound signature: more precision, more details, wider open up soundstage, more transparency, more structure, zero drawback. I assume K1 is more tolerant in terms of amplification but I had no chance to check it. The chap I bought The K1 from had had previously Proac D30R (or RS) and said that the K1s would be substantially better.
Hi - we have similar room size, taste in music and systems albeit mine is NC version.
I have D20R with NACA5 and apply some light touch dsp (convolution filter) around a 38 hz room gain issue but other than that are not fussy.
They give a dynamic yet smooth and warm (certainly not overly but the point I’m trying to make is that they are not fatiguing in any way) presentation with Naim electronics so very complementary imo.
Well worth a demo if you can.
Good luck.
I use a pair of D2R’s with a NC 222/250 and I think they are just brilliant speakers. My room is about the same size as yours. They just fill the room with music and are excellent at lower listening levels. The pure ribbon tweeters are utterly addictive - incredible transparency without being analytical. Definitely audition them
This is my room size also. The D20rs are too much bass and they boom… however the D2rs are the goldilocks option. I found that a pair of REL T9is turned right down just add the extra magic and the point is that the amount of bass is controlled and tamed yet enhanced.
Also pull the speakers away from the front wall as much as you can. My Naim gear is NDX2 into 285/250dr and Naim+ ProAc is a fantastic combo.
My personal taste is for D2R, but I admit I did not heard most of the above speakers mentioned.
As usual a « in room » validation if possible will provide the best answer. I’m still impress how much it can impact the sound.
Here my temporary setup while the first floor is being repaired after a little water ceiling damage.
At the bottom of my post is my normal setup.
In a blind test, I’m pretty sure I would had think the D2R were different speakers.
