It’s worked very well and I am not missing the Musicworks block, which is excellent.
If you don’t need it, then don’t get it. As soon as my power supplies were humming a few weeks ago this was my go to solution from gaining knowledge from those on this forum.
I’m in the US and I’ve got to say I’ve never had this kind of humming issue. Well once. It was caused by a Dac emitting lots of Digital ground noise that was getting picked up by my preamp. I just find it peculiar that Naim stuff seems so sensitive to what ever. I had a SN2 with HCDR and it was quiet. I have a Muso 2 that is totally quiet. Maybe there’s less noise on our AC lines here? I’d be curious about other folks in the US
I also use the Ground Master City, on the digital side of the network here (router > Meraki modified MS220-8P).
Puritan also recommend them for use on the analogue side of the chain when a grounding rod installation isn’t feasible.
I have Puritan PSM156 earth > Ground Master > 2.4m copper ground rod in bentonite
and
analogue component signal ground > Route Master > (separate) Ground Master > ground rod
There are transmission lines <100m to the property and for me the above removed the variability when listening at different times. Recommended.
Power amp is plugged direct into the mains (separate circuit breaker), it is not normally recommended to plug an amp into any type of conditioner due to the limiting effect on dynamics. Of course YMMV, however that was my experience.
The 555PS for the NDX2 is connected to the PSM156 and definitely benefits. DC component on the mains makes the toroidal transformer hum and realises that beautiful calm and space associated with low noise floor.
PSM156 C20 IEC inlet was changed to the Furutech FI-33 NCF pure copper type as were the IEC connector and mains plug on the Puritan power cable; can’t say the latter made any appreciable difference.
So…I can only afford to put in my best bid on either the 555DR or the SL Din-XLR cables…I could try doing both, but if I win both I will be in trouble…what do you reckon I should shoot for?
In your case 555PSDR every time. Your source is the bottleneck in your system right now. It’s out of balance. The 555PSDR or even an XPSDR will even things out. Former is better and good investment later down the line if you want an ND555.
You need to focus on your source.
The Din to XLRs can come later. You should get those too once you have sold your old kit.
Thanks both, that makes sense and was my gut instinct. The last one on auction went for just under 4k which is out of reach for me, but you never know it may be a quiet Sunday on eBay
