Qobuz Connect is here

Are you on iOS?

Android app volume buttons, slider and device volume buttons work perfectly on my Google Pixel.
So I don’t have to revert to the Naim app.

Best is to report the bugs to Qobuz.

I think so, was updated on 12 May, says it is Qobuz Version 9.0.0.2.

The one on my iPhone says 9.0.1 b250512160100.

Yep, that’s the latest for Android

So far, tried QC on my van, Echo Show and Linn Selekt, all working OK. Just got to try on the two TVs now.

If you use system automation to have the NDX2 control your preamp volume level you cannot use that with Qobuz Connect.
If you use the digital volume control in the streamer, QC should be able to use it, although there is likely to be a noticeable loss of sound quality.

Hi @DiggyGun,
Qobuz Connect working on Linn Select DSM. Did I miss something, thought Linn was not compatible.
Kind regards

In that you open the Qobuz app, find Linn inside it and start streaming hi-res never leaving the Qobuz native app? Some seem to confuse connect with opening Qobuz through third part apps like Naim/Linn and start the stream from there. This is not Qobuz Connect. Linn is also not on the “supporting Connect” list I shared above.

I do not think that the Linn streamers are compatible with Qobuz Connect, and Linn engineers have not done anything yet, and no Linn official statement about anything related to Qobuz Connect,

You’re correct, Linn currently are not supporting QC through their app. However, if you open the QC app you will see a list of connected items.

Shown on the following photos.

It plays to the Linn Selekt via AirPlay, bypassing the Linn App totally.

Hope this helps.

Airplay is transferring music from your phone to the Linn streamer in compressed format not supporting Hi-res audio.

Airplay2 sounds the worst with Linn streamers because (1) Apple Airplay2 convolutedly compresses everything to 48 kHz/24 bit, (2) Linn streamers convolutedly compress everything coming from Airplay2 to 44.1 kHz/16 bit.

@Blackbird and @sean86

Thanks for clarifying that, much appreciated

Must admit that only listen to Qobuz through the Linn app. But was trying out QC to see what it was all about.

Whether Linn support QC is not an issue for me as I find the Linn app to be very good, don’t have any purchased or stored music.

Thanks all for additional comments.
My understanding is the same as that of @Blackbird and @sean86. I do not use Airplay, BT or other similar connectivity due to compression of signal to whatever they limit it to.
I’ll just continue using Linn app to control music on my Linn, still seem to be able to find what I like even if the search/UI is not as good or direct as QC. To be honest I find the Linn interface reasonable, maybe just used to it. I do use QC with my Naim boxes.

Thank you for this heads up. I wasn’t aware of this..i am now! I am really enjoying the Qobuz Connect far more than i was expecting. I will disable system automation when listening this way so that i can control the volume via Qobuz app!

Ta very muchly!

You’re welcome! You’ll have to decide for yourself, of course, whether this reduces sound quality more than you would like.

Yes, both iPhone and iPad

It’s not relevant for locally stored music, just streaming from Qobuz.

I also like the Linn app, but I find the Qobuz app better for searching and it offers a number of additional features. What I’ve done in the past was to use the app, save a selection to favourites and then play them from the device’s control app. Connect does that much more more efficiently. And there’s no loss in SQ (that I can hear) unlike AirPlay.

Hi,

re: Qobuz Connect Streaming

It is genuinely bit perfect and very similar to playing using the Qobuz Naim built in solution. The key differences are:

  • Buffering - Naim built-in Qobuz implementation uses the full buffer (50MB, or 250MB on newer Diva / CI102 products) so less influence on internet issues. Qobuz Connect its about 6seconds worth.
  • HTTPS vs HTTP. Naim pull the streams in http as less effort on decode, especially when doing 192kHz streams. Qobuz Connect uses HTTPS.

Best
