I don’t think that true, actually. WAV can be 24 bit - Google…
Indeed - what on earth is going on? I’ve raised an issue with them and look forward to a useful reply which I’ll share.
I had the same here on Friday
WAV was 16/48 when downloaded and FLAC was 24/96… hence the difference in size
Have you checked with media info
latest response from quboz concerning my complaint that the WAV files are downloading as 16bit rather than 24bit:
Hello,

Thx D - I’m struggling to find free s/ware that will reveal bit depth…
Thanks - I imagine this explains my issue, too.
Thanks; unfortunately I use Mac…
Actually my Finder is telling me my WAV files are 16 bit instead of 24 bit…
The only music I have purchased in the last week has been CD quality (44.1/16)… so I can’t tell if any hi-res downloads are being “downgraded” to CD quality, as others are reporting.
However, the first issue I noticed, as mentioned in a previous post, was that the old app and website were only making downloads available as mp3s or FLAC files, with all other format options gone.
New issue yesterday: I used the new “Qobuz Downloader” app, as described in kwhitmarsh’s post above, which — after some bugginess — once again allowed me to choose my download format (AIFF in my case)… but the files came in completely stripped of all metadata (which was never the case with the old app)!
UPDATE: Reply from Qobuz
“Hello! A new version of the downloader will hopefully be released in the coming days. It is supposed to fix this metadata problem. The team is working hard as I type this to fix it. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Qobuz have replied to me saying that what they released is a beta version and their people are working to release a new version without all the bugs. Just love being a beta tester!
It is just not to be believed that they dropped the option to download album by album and unpack by TAR. It worked and it was simple. With the app I always had problems. And also this weekend it had some issues. I hope they bring TAR back as well.
Here’s the exact reply:
‘Hello,
Thank you for your message and the screenshots.
The app was actually published on its beta version.
Many issues and improvements have been identified by the technical team. They are currently working on a fix that will be released within one of our next updates. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we hope everything will be corrected soon.

Best regards’
Sounds to me that they mistakenly released the beta version as a public version before it was ready. Why they don’t just roll back is one of those mysteries.
I agree. I’ve bought hundreds of albums and always used the TAR file. The album I bought last week was a nightmare and I ended up doing it track by track. The only advantage to me - but obviously not to Qobuz - is that I’ve not bought another since.
I thought I was going to have to do this, too, but then realised (from this thread) that d/loading the Qobuz app was distinct from d/loading their Download app. The two are different. Mad but there it is. The Downloader will let you select file format (except it’s broken and only allows 16 bit std res’) and d/load the album in one go. But you have to go into its Settings to tell it where to d/load to on your device. And getting the purchased album from the main App to the Download app is utterly non-intuitive and takes me an age to work out. I really hope they sort and simplify it asap.
Even before they bungled their latest software release, buying downloads from Qobuz was a last resort for me. I would only buy from them if I couldn’t buy what I wanted from anywhere else.
Where do you buy from, David?
I buy almost exclusively classical or occasionally jazz, so usually Presto classical, but also sometimes direct from the producer, eg Linn.
To make matters even worse the new download app doesn’t work with MAC OS 10.14.6 Mojave, yes I know i should update that but I have a some legacy programmes that won’t work on anything above this.
I’ve had no problems with dl files from Qobuz in the past with their Mac app. I buy mostly hi res files and find the quality to be the best I’ve found. Streaming locally is sublime for me. I was recently able to d/l hi res with the mac app after redirecting the file path, a bit of a nuisance but workable. Hopefully they get their app problems resolved asap.
