Qobuz Studio reduction in price

Thanks Gaz

I’m guessing that’s on the Qobuz app, not the Naim app.

I’ve been accessing Qobuz Mainly via the MConnectHD app.

I am using the Naim app with Qobuz natively integrated.

21.99 is the sublime tier which gives you discounts on purchases, streaming only is Studio Premiere at £14.99.

Not all tracks by artists have streaming licences so those ones are one you can buy from Qobuz but offer a taster.

John Zorn has always been fiercely protective of his music and does not subscribe to the idea of giving it away on streaming. I am actually surprised Quboz have samples. If you want to listen to Zorn you normally need to buy it…

Yes, that’s what I thought.

He has a few LPs on Tidal and Qobuz.

I have about 10 John Zorn CDs and several LPs on vinyl.

But no CD player, NAS or TT.

Not sure whether this is the thing that will nudge me over to get some kind of digital library, or not?

There is already an infinite sea of music that I enjoy from streaming.

There appears to be 10 albums to stream.

Maybe testing the water now then, Still that’s a very small proportion of his catalogue - he releases music at a prodigious rate…nothing on spotify that i can see.

There must be about 40 albums on there, but only 10 currently playable.

Even the 40 are a small part of his catalogue - probably somewhere near 300 albums at a guess across his various guises… Wonder if the 40 will become playable in time…

I expect that he’s probably asked Qobuz for a realistic sum for the streaming rights, and Qobuz are offering a tiny sum.

So there’s probably a huge gap that may never be crossed.

In the meantime, he gets a free 30 second sample/ad for his work and people can discover his music and buy it on CD or downloads from Tzadik Records.

I can on my NDZ 2 but not my Muso 1st Gen. I doesn’t work. Only via bluetooth ?

None of the 1st gen. Naim streamers have native Qobuz support. You could use Bluetooth, but Airplay would be better.

the selection is inferior compared to Tidal,

In doing a side by side comparison for 30 days I found that Qobuz had a superior sound and the selection of music works for me. Higher quality music and 25% less expensive on the monthly fee.

I do agree that there may be more music on Tidal but a large section is not where my music interest lies.

I had a Tidal subscription for 2 1/2 years and would have stayed with them if it sounded superior to Qobuz. …of course, my ears, my system, in my room.

JMHO - YMMV
