I’ve just dropped this question to Qobuz helpline, but perhaps people here are knowledgeable as well.
I have a Qobuz acount which I’ve created some years ago in order to buy downloaded music. With the Linn Selekt DSM came a voucher for a free 60 days trial which I would like to use in November, December so about to activate.
Can I use this voucher in combination with my existing acount or do I need to create a new acount?
I originally paid for Qobuz monthly for a year but then switched to a voucher with no need to create anything new. I then forgot vouchers were available and switched back to monthly and my current year (which is indeed year 4 of my having Qobuz) is paid for using another voucher. At no point have I needed to create a new account. It initially used a Hotmail account for three years and is now using my Outlook account but only because I binned the Hotmail rather than because Qobuz required me to do so.
In the middle of typing this I’ve just checked my comms with Qobuz and can see that when I switched the first time they advised that all I needed to do was to ensure I applied the voucher from the day after my existing sub ended. All favourites then remain etc.
Today I’ve received the following response from Qobuz, thought it was good to share:
"thank you for your message. Sadly our vouchers can only be used in account that never hat a subscription before. So to actually use the voucher you would need to create another account. Since you most likely will have collected favourites in the current account this is not very beneficial."
As I previously asserted above, the advice from Qobuz is incorrect. I have once again just applied a discounted voucher to my account and subscribed for a further year. I have had this account since December 2020. 20/21 I had a monthly subscription. 21/22 I changed that to yearly. 22/23 I did the same. 23/24 I gifted myself a Black Friday discount and 24/25 I have just done the same.
To be clear I have only ever had the one account with them. My one account has always been used for streaming and a number of downloads so their assertion quoted above that a new account must be created is simply not true.
