Radiohead are back — fitter, happier and better than before
And the Bank Account was getting a little to skinny.
Any chance of a new album too, or maybe it is time for the inevitable Best Of?
Yeah - musicians making money from their music. What a disgrace
Ridiculous comment.
… more productive …
I would be interested in seeing them live, although I never really got into them. But I am not sure I have the energy or metal strength to go through the ticket ordering process and getting rogered on price.
I could contribute something in support of that but it would probably edge towards politics and I’d be cancelled!
Ok. Most groups, get to a point where they quit. Maybe they feel they have nothing more to say (It happens to most artists) and some members want to change direction. In a lot of groups personal tensions boil over, and people end up hating each other. (The Police).
So these groups do the decent thing. They do not want to go through the motions for the next Thirty years, and so the group splits. This used to be the normal road most took.
The talented members of a band move forward, like Richard Ashcroft, or Sting and many others.
The Oasis school of music teaches, that even though the members hate each other and/or the group had become stale and boring, with enough hype, the old members can, if they bury their differences for a couple of hours each night, make enough dosh to have a less grey old age.
If you are happy to support this sort of event, I am happy. I personally will not be contributing to some aging rockstars pension pot, unless he has something interesting and new to say.
Lindsay, I’ve made a small amendment to the thread title, otherwise it could mean something very different…
The rest of The Verve, Andy Summers and Stuart Copeland were all talented musicians.
Richard, I’d maybe pull this one, i’m quite annoyed by the Radiohead antipathy.
Steve
Not sure how you fit Radiohead into this category as I’m not aware of any animosity between the members. They have all just gone off doing various side projects but have regularly got back together to practice.
Have you ever considered that, god forbid, they might actually enjoy playing live music? Besides, the world seems happy for gazillionaires, CEO’s to keep on making money despite having vast amounts already but when musicians do it they are ‘selling out man’.
Brilliant band who I will happily see again and again
Please try and get a ticket. They are incredible live.
Urm the Police undertook a lucrative reunion tour!
So 4 nights at the O2 is about 80,000 tickets available in total. I doubt that is anywhere near sufficient to meet the demand, it is going to be one mad scramble to get your hands on one.
Yes I was wondering if they’ll back it up with some big outdoor dates next spring/summer?
The band never split, they’re just getting together to do some shows and maybe new music will come.
Thom does his own thing, a few albums, film soundtracks.
Jonny does soundtracks.
Thom+Jonny plus 1 = The smile
Ed has 2 solo albums
Philip the drummer has solo albums plus plays with other bands
Colin the bass player is currently on tour with Nick cave.
All this brings extra energy / musical influences into Radiohead.
Apparently Thom enjoyed going through the live recordings for the live album just released and that possibly has influenced the get together for more.
