I am visiting Edinburgh with my wife. A quick Google search brings up a plethora of record shops near the centre (unusual these days). Any recommendations? If it has a coffee shop then even better.
This is not going to help. I was up there in sept and found a few. But nothing special.

That is in the old days when Fopp was a clearing outlet for HMV they had some great deals back then now as I found today at Fopp in London HMV is cheaper.
Yes, it’s a good while since I visited the store. Shame.

Are the independent stores not up to much then?
The best was about 12 years ago, with the OJC jazz CDs, including the limited edition ones, at £2 each. It was ‘fill yer boots’ time.
Last time I was in there it was meh…

Yes I had to take a little truck to haul home my purchases from the OJC Jazz bargains.

I like Assai Records in Grindlay Street. There are several second hand records shops including one at the bottom of Cockburn Street and another in Stockbridge. That one does the world record day thing, I think. Those are the three I’d recommend. FOPP in their new shop in the west end is a bit soul-less.
