Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding a replacement remote control for my Supernait 2.
The Backstory: While changing the batteries, I unfortunately managed to break a small piece of the internal PCB. It’s a clean snap, and sadly, the remote is now completely unresponsive.
My Questions:
-
Which version is correct? I believe the SN2 originally came with the NARCOM 4 or 5, but I’ve seen various versions (NARCOM 6, etc.) mentioned online. Which one should I be hunting for to ensure full functionality?
-
Sourcing in Germany/EU: My online searches haven’t yielded much luck in terms of “Add to Cart” options. Does anyone have a lead on a dealer or shop that stocks these?
-
Direct Contact? Does it make sense to contact Naim HQ directly, or is this strictly a “go through a local distributor” situation?
I’m based in Germany, so shipping within the EU is no problem. If anyone has a spare or knows a reputable dealer with stock, I’d be very grateful for the lead!
Thanks in advance for the help.
Any of the Narcoms should work. You should contact your usual Naim dealer and ask them to order one for you. If you specify it’s for a Supernait 2 you won’t go wrong. There are loads of cheap imitations on eBay, which may or may not work.
There are narcom look alike on ebay. I have one and it works fine on my 252. The orig8nal is in its box in the loft. It means im not too worried about it getting scratched etc. Cost was £15?
Thanks for the feedback, @HungryHalibut.
The eBay alternatives sound interesting, especially to keep the original in mint condition. However, I have a specific question regarding the functionality:
Does the dimming/display function work with these third-party remotes?
I really appreciate the #StealthLook where only the green Naim logo is illuminated while the volume + balance indicators are blacked out. On the original NARCOM, this is usually handled by the #Disp button.
@Thegreatroberto: since you are using a 252 with a clone, can you confirm if that specific button works to toggle the display modes? I’d hate to lose that aesthetic feature by going with a “cheap” look-a-like (not even close tbh) imitation.
Display modes as in turning the lights on/off? Then yes. These clones, I expect are the same as naim just without the branding. Dont forget naim dont make their cheaper narcoms. Doubt they made the R-com.
