Revolver

Has anyone tried one of these yet ?
£1200 seems expensive but these things normally are

We have to be a member of a gun club to own one here in NZ . No doubt different in USA. You can get a nice Smith and Wesson snubnose for $628 there.

Is that a reissue or first press?

Was interested in this myself. The talk about porosity in the Linn platter casting being a cause of performance loss raised my cynicism though. Who knows though, it could be the case. Keen to hear for myself however as other Tangerine products have worked for me.

Probably makes more sense for the outer platter to make a difference rather than say a K Rad over the A, must admit I was pleasantly shocked by that one.
Doubt TA would have released it unless they were entirely happy,
The Stiletto, Scorpion and Eclipse was a huge upgrade and superb build quality.
I’ll probably pull the trigger on this regardless, my outer platter along with the hinges are the only original parts on this 1998 LP12.
I’d just be more comfortable if I read some positive reports first.

So not talking about one of these then.

Nope, one of these

Mr Onion has posted positively on it on another (primarily Linn) forum. He liked it so much that he bought one.

Well, I’ve ordered one
I’ve also ordered a black Evenstar, at least with the black it will match the TT rather than the arm
My old platter is best described as having been round the block, well the spindle anyway and does look a bit ropey. It was on my radar to replace

First impressions
It certainly looks the part
The difference is far from subtle, it’s certainly sounds sharper and a sense of much more life from the speakers
I also ordered an Evenstar, as they’re now available in black which matches the deck rather than the arm, must say whatever this is doing is much more subtle, not heard much of a difference

I’m certainly curious about this new product. I’m interested to hear from those who’ve heard it for the answer to this question……

I’ve had my LP12 42 years and it still has the original outer platter. Over those years I’ve invested in somewhere between 15 and 20 upgrades and am now at Klimax level.

Where would you place the Revolver in SQ improvement terms against all other upgrades?

FWIW……here are my Top 3:

  1. Keel
  2. KRad2
  3. Karmen top plate

If it doesn’t smash into this Top 3 I’ll probably pass on it.

Can’t really help you there as I’ve tended to do multiple upgrades at once
I did the Keel at the same time as A/RAD, Ekos SE/1, Kandid
I did the K/RAD2 at the same
Never had the Karmen
