Richard Wright's Wet Dream, what a find!

Just bought the CD of the above album, who knew he was so good as an individual artist, well not me sad to say, so good do I think the album is I’ve also ordered the vinyl copy too, out this coming Friday, any one else have any thoughts?

I ordered the LP last week, hoping that it would be good, so I’m pleased to read your enthusiastic thoughts here.

Fabulous album. You’ll definitely enjoy that I should think.
I have a lovely vinyl copy, bought preloved recently from a local used vinyl trader I frequent.

I hope that some part of the price that I have paid will find its way into Richard Wright’s coffers. I still think that Roger Waters behaved like a total sh*t in sacking him from Pink Floyd.

He won’t be benefiting personally of course Graham.:face_with_diagonal_mouth:
AND
Roger Waters is a complete ‘SH1T’ for many MANY reasons, not least of which was trying to get rid of Rick!:joy:
IMHO😉

Ah… having seen the cover, the title makes sense.

Added to my Roon library for a listen later :+1:

If Roger Waters’ lyrics on ‘The Wall’ are at all biographical, he appears to have had a pretty tough childhood.

Next time I go past David Gilmour’s rather grand seafront home in Hove, I may knock on the door and ask!

Yep, me too!

It’s rather more complicated than that. Rick would have been the first to admit that around the time he was given the boot he wasn’t contibuting anything and had a terrible cocaine problem. While he and old Rog never really got along, the other two and [manager] Steve O’Rourke were quite happy to get rid of Rick too once the time came.

There was a bit of karma though – Waters, Gilmour and Mason all lost a shedload of money on the “Wall” shows because they were so expensive to stage, despite the 31 concerts selling out. He was on a session fee of $11,000 per day and so made a killing!

I doubt if he’ll be in – he mostly lives elsewhere and that house has been on the market for more than a year, despite Dave and Polly knocking £5m off the asking price (it’s now £10m).

I think that “Wet Dream” – which I bought in 1978 when it came out – is rather disappointing, and a rather timid record, despite the stellar cast of musicians on board.

I might have to buy the new version though, partly for completism but also in order to see if Steven Wilson’s mix has improved it.

The album is fully authorised by Rick’s estate, which is administered by his children Gala and Jaimie, so they will be getting the money, as they do for all Rick’s solo work and his compositions with Pink Floyd (and the mechanicals).

@Nickd – Rick’s best solo album is “Broken China” from 1996. Only available on CD and out of print, but easy to find. Rumour is, that it will be reissued next year.

If you put down a 10% deposit over 25 years it’s only £55,267 a month on the mortgage

I’ll take a suitcase of cash, and ask for a sizeable discount, no point in screwing around!
