Maybe not indestructible, but more stable than modern tapes…
Its the Asbestos, Cadmium, Chrome 6 and Benzene in it…!!
(It would not be the first time than an older formulation of something is ‘better’ than its modern environmentally more friendly replacement.)

I believe Cadmium was purchased by Kraft back in the day
