RIP Cassandra Wilson

I’m just reading about this now. Another great voice has passed away.

Yes, really sad to hear, think I’ve all her fabulous albums on vinyl (those released on vinyl) and they’re all great to me (lovely gatefolds).

Never got to see her live unfortunately.

I missed my chance to see her about 10 years ago just when I had discovered her. :frowning:

Gosh. I’ve all her albums and was unaware she was unwell.

No.

One of the few Jazz singers that I really like a lot.

I will be playing “Beneath a Silver Moon” from Silver Pony tonight as well as “Redbone” from After the Beginning again.

Same. I’m a little shocked to be honest. 70 years young..

So sad. This is tragic. I loved all of her albums with a passion.

Just played ‘Last Train to Clarksville’. A superlative interpretation.

So sad. Underrated outside US. But not by all! RIP Cassandra.

RIP. I remember her creating quite a stir with her JMT releases in the late 80s with the M-Base lineup including Lonnie Plaxico. I remember on one night on prime-time Canadian TV they used one of her JMT tracks as a filler between programmes - a sign of raised popular profile and it was up from there. I think I saw her in live performance with a trio but can’t recall where or when it was (updated - I think it was at Cheltenham).

Her final performance was just this past Summer in Toronto apparently.

I am shocked, much too early gone.

She was a great artist, one which brought something unique to the world, not like the 50 others.

RIP…….
