Oh my word. What a week this has been. Another huge loss to music.
Very few will leave a legacy as large as Lamont, and even fewer will be able to boast such an influence on so many legendary performers.

I don’t stream music but I imagine it would be a lengthy list. Lamont’s musical legacy is absolutely astonishing.
Naive question, I know, but was Lamont the writer of the lyrics or of music ?

He was a lyricist.
Actually, during the days of the Holland-Dozier-Holland partnership it seems that Eddie Holland was responsible for many of the lyricist duties.
Lamont was a true all-round talent. Arranger, producer, songwriter, lyricist and also a period as a recording artist with a number of solo records to his credit.
