Sad News, My first exposure to Blodwyn Pig was via âNice enough to eatâ in 1969 fro 14/6. âSing me a song that I knowâ was the song. It was writtten by Mick Abrahams, I loved it, even better my Parents hated it. I was a fan ever since. Thank you so much for the music Mick RIP
Really sad news of a talented local lad making it. A very talented guitarist who has left some great albums. RIP Mick.
Sad news. My favourite Jethro Tull album remains âThis Wasâ that features Mick Abrahams on guitar. So many happy memories of happy teenage years listening to that one. RIP Mick.
Yes, âThis Wasâ is my favourite too.
Once prompted me, following the eponymously-named BP song, to ask a Jamaican female colleague at work in the office what âRaas Claatâ meant.
Needless to say, embarrassment was followed by a refusal to say and then deathly silenceâŚ
I saw Blodwyn Pig in 1969 at Brooklands Technical College in Weybridge Surrey (UK) in the days when all colleges had a thriving music scene /circuit, they were very good. I particularly liked Jack Lancasterâs contribution on Flute and Sax.
About 10 years ago we were on a self guided walking holiday in Italy which finished at a lovely boutique hotel in Montepulciano. The hotel didnât have a restaurant only a breakfast room so we decanted to a small bar/restaurant in the town. Sitting next to us were two of what I thought were east end gangsters, who kept talking about âthe old billâ etc.
Suddenly it dawned on me that it was Mick Abrahams and Clive Bunker, and they were staying at our hotel, I told him about the Brooklands gig which he appeared to remember, they were over to play at a wedding for a member of the Italian aristocracy. He seemed a bit disinterested in the music business in general and said that he might give it all up. We chatted for quite a while and they were both lovely blokes.
RIP Mick.
