Robert Duvall

BBC have just announced his death at 95.

For me, one of those actors who, when playing a major role in film or TV series, meant it was probably worth watching.

Obviously, unforgettable in The Godfather & I remember his lead in the TV series, Lonesome Dove.

RIP

My favourite movie.

Got to see him onstage back in 1977 in “American Buffalo.”

Sheer class. Always a sign of quality in a film. Thanks for the films

Top slot for my favourite movie of all time that.

Another legend and anchor to our past gone. Sigh. I may have to honour him with a double bill from the collection. But so many quality flicks to choose from.

So long Bluebonnet.

Another actor who highlights my laziness as a viewer. Robert Duvall sat slightly below the radar for my vision and now, with his passing and with the benefit of 20:20 hindsight, my goodness what a fantastic actor he was. Truly brilliant amongst the Holywood greats.

Another thing which completely passed me by was father time - I would never have guessed he was as old as 95 years!

Fantastic innings and superb career. RIP Robert Duvall. Your star will keep shining bright.|

My favourite film of his, which is often forgotten / overlooked, is the Outfit (1973). Brilliant revenge thriller with an outstanding ensemble cast (Robert Ryan, Karen Black, Joe Don Baker, Sheree North, Joanna Cassidy et al).

He will be sorely missed.

Another great role is that of Jerome Facher, a senior litigation partner at an esteemed Boston firm in A Civil Action (based on a true story).
