Roger Waters DSOM Redux cassette

Hi all,

My Redux cassette arrived today, the first cassette I bought for 32 years

AFAIK it is chrome as it has large slots on the top

Does anybody know if it was recorded with Dolby?

I guess not because I can’t the DD symbol on the case

Sounds surprisingly good

Is it eq’d for 70uS or 120uS? If the former (and the wider slots seem to indicate that it might be) then it may well not need Dolby noise reduction.

I have not seen a cassette - let alone seen one for sale - for years. I assumed that the CD had, through the best Darwinian principles, caused their extinction many years ago.

There has been a modest revival of sorts. A number of bands have released albums on cassette in the last few years. Google search “Cassette Revival” or check out the article in Rolling Stone magazine that can be found online.

@SpaceCadet1 It won’t have Dolby because Dolby Labs no longer licences its NR for consumer products (eg cassette decks or cassette tapes).
