Sorry to disappoint you again, Ray, but when I got the new iPad working last night it sounded even better on Tidal than my previous one did running MConnect Player HD into the 272.
Overall, this is the SQ lift over native Tidal that I’ve been seeking.
The uplift is across the board, i.e. on 16/44 as well as hires files.
Yes, the app is a bit clunky, but it sounds great and does the job.
So Roon is not going to happen and the new iPad’s a keeper.
The 2019 bottom of the range 10.2 inch iPad I bought has more RAM than my previous one, and I was concerned that the extra RAM might be more electrically noisy, and interfere with the processing of the files - but that’s not audibly happening.
I realize that having a return wifi leg is not desirable in hifi, and I may replace it with a wired solution at some point, but for now it sounds great.
Perhaps the wifi leg from router to iPad and back doesn’t degrade SQ noticeably because the wifi send and receive module in the iPad is very well built?

And also because my PoE Ciscos keep a lot of the electrical noise that is created by the router’s wifi activity away from the 272…
