Roon Endpoint (transport only) – Cost No Object – options?

How is your seperated Core connected?

And when using your seperated Core, what software is actually running in the Innuous?

EDIT
Do you have 2 Roon licenses? In order to have the Core on a separated computer and in the Innuos, you need 2 licences.

No you don’t. If I am logged out of the innuos I can log into my Mac. Innuos becomes a streamer only. Tried it fairly early on when I got the Innuos, decided running Room on that in inexperimental mode was clearly better and never went back. I’m pretty clued up on how to use my own equipment funnily enough

Fair enough.

Regarding sound quality my experience with Roon is slightly different.

I compared :

  • Roon on a PC (yes, I paid a second license only for testing)
  • Roon on my pimped NUC (with fancy power supply)
  • MinimServer on my Synology NAS.

All connected to my home network and streaming to the ND555.

Couldn’t detect any difference between them.

Kept the pimped NUC for convenience.

I suspect with the Innuos it’s something to do with how it’s internal player buffers the music prior to it being sent via usb. I’ve not tried it but I’d question if it was any different if it was being sent from innuos to a streamer via its ethernet output. Planning on testing this with a friends streamer this weekend

Generally, if you get an extremely good dac the manufacturer will have made a way to supply Roon to it, and that’s usually the best or one of the best ways to do that because that’s the pairing for which the product(s) were developed.

Totaldac D1 streamer. With or without the D1 reclocker . ( 6k or 10k with reclocker). All formats. Usb. Roon Ready.

yes too close to call

Indeed, I asked the manufacturer about that.

Their DAC has a LAN interface which supports UPnP/DLNA protocol.

They’re planing to implement the RAAT protocol as well. It’s in the pipeline, but it’ll take some time.

EDIT :

UPnP is pretty much a prehistorical protocol that might not last.

There is an interesting reading on Roon’s forum.

The following question has been asked : " What’s wrong with UPnP? "

Someone from the Roon’s team answered (first link on the Google search)

How long will RAAT last?

Have a look at the review just released on the stereophile website. Is that the sort of thing you had in mind? Grimm MU1.

Quote from Grimm’s website :

“The MU1 runs Roon Core server, so no extra installs are necessary.”

I certainly won’t connect a Roon Core to a DAC.

As said above, and as recommended by Roon Labs, the first rule of Roon is : we will not connect a Roon Core to a DAC.

Thanks anyway

All those servers are very convenient, but not the best option in terms of sound.

No, was already posted. It’s also a server…

Hi @Thomas Another one for you, the Aavik streamers

Do you know what are active Tesla coils?
That streamer seems very interesting. And I like the look. BNC take only max 24/192. Not a problem for me. With an Nds, connected in BNC, it should give very good results.

They only support the HQPlayer NAA protocol for Roon. Not RAAT. So make sure to use a Roon server that support NAA. I’ve had their stuff on home-demo and it was the best I’ve ever heard with Roon but when I got my head around that NAA/RAAT stuff I decided to put more money on the LP12 instead.

Sorry, no - but I would imagine it is some type of LCR circuitry to filter noise, block DC signal presented as noise, etc.

Interesting product, thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Unfortunately the streamer does not handle the RAAT protocol.

Another interesting option: Bricasti M5

And another one : Esoteric N-03T

A nice option!!
