So which of his recorded albums are your stand-out favourites?

…and why?

He is responsible for the majority of my music collection.
Utter genius a whole history of great music to his legacy.
Impossible to pick out any better than others but I’m betting on a great response with regards to favourites. :+1:t2:
Nice one Debs.

If it was just on the basis of his recorded work for Blue Note he would be deemed a genius.

But he also recorded much for Prestige.

And Impulse… plus a whole lot more.

So hard to pick favourites. However, the warmth and clarity of Coltrane’s ‘Blue Trane’, Lee Morgan’s ‘Cornbread’ and Hank Mobley’s ‘Soul Station’ is hard to beat.

Here’s a wiki link to Van Gelder Studio’s massive list of recordings

To have all in one’s LP collection would require a lot of shelf space in a very big house, and a lot of money to buy them all. But what a wonderful residence eh? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :notes:

Amazon driver has just called with a delivery:

It just happens to state on the back cover:

‘Recorded on 11th December 1965 at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood Cliffs, NJ’

<>

TBH i’m far from being an expert on Jazz music and haven’t (yet) even learnt who Big John Patton is, however seeing Grant Green and Bobby Hutcherson’s names i know it’s an odds on favourite that this album is highly likely to delight.

Okay, ordered! :upside_down_face: :+1:

Just happen to be on a free 30 days of Prime, which is fatal to one’s monetary economics.

The Englewood Cliffs Studio has the advantage of high vaulted ceilings, a concrete floor, and good solid SBL brick walls, no wonder it’s on the National Register of Historical Places.

With @Debs having advised that this is now just £15.50 on Amazon, I’m just listening to it on Qobuz. It’s rather good! But do I want another record, even at such an advantageous price?
