Thank you , my understanding is that the SACD layer is restricted on all but Sony players , I just wanted a player that was very light for a potential second system . The SACD is not a serious issue
My Pioneer is an absolute beast where weight is concerned , if all goes to plan it will be matched to a CI102 (again ultra light)

I got this from the UK last week and are really enjoying the bluray hi-res audio. This would be my favourite new album in the last few years with lyrical and musical themes making this a solid 65 continuous minutes of quality progressive rock.
Now that I have tweaked my setup to remove various sources of noise pollution over the power and ethernet in my listening room, I’m really happy with my digital playback. The big wins were replacing an old iMac and back up drive (I was a doing that anyway, and hadn’t anticipated the improvement it would have with the hi-fi set up, leading to the other improvements), moving the HD11AU to the Farad 3 LPS, swapping the RCA to RCA to a RCA to BNC from the HD11AU to the ND555, and moving the router power plug to my Isobel Sirius power board. @MoonDrifter - I was thinking swapping out the SMPS that comes with the HD11AU with the power socket fitted Ifi iPower MkII would be a very worthwhile and cheap option for your setup, I found the stock SMPS was putting noise into the HD11AU.

It’s a great album but took a little while to grow on me and eventually resonate. I am somewhat dissapointed that I can’t make any dates on the upcoming UK tour when they are going to play the album in full.

Hi Mike, many thanks for the advice on the Ifi iPower MKII, did you have any problem with your push in connector from your LPS into the 5v screw connection into the HD11AU?
I have a mains filter between my wall power socket and the HD11AU SMPS which cleans up the mains and since I installed it I have not really noticed any adverse noise on the audio from the HD11AU into my Streamer/DAC, but appreciate that the SMPS will create its own noise, but I think the mains filter is helping me in my set up.

The power lead seems happy enough, it’s just the regular round pin without the screw fitting but has a firm enough fit. I think having your power supply off the filter block would be enough for preventing any noise going back into other devices (if it’s designed to do) that, but if the HD11U power supply is putting RFI into the digital pathway that would be worth sorting out. Unfortunately there is really only the one way to find out, but the Ifi is cheap enough and could be reused elsewhere if needed?

I haven’t seen them live as I live in New Zealand, so I contend myself with some of their Bluray concerts. If you like them, my next choice would be “The Underfall Yard”.

I listened to the Miles Davis Ascenseur pour L’echafaud Blu-ray disc 24/96 stereo track this morning and the sound is crystal clear, so no noise from the HD11AU SMPS impacting the sound quality.
My HiFi equipment is on a dedicated mains circuit and via a mains filter and the HD11AU SMPS is on another mains circuit, also via a mains filter, so they are well separated and filtered electrically.
I have the Miles Davis album on a Japanese 24 Bit Mastering SHM-CD and compared it this morning to the Blu-ray Hi-Res disc, with the Hi-Res disc being a little better sound quality, so Im very pleased with the Hi-Res disc purchase and very happy that I don’t have a noise issue with the HD11AU and its SMPS.
Appreciate the suggestion of the Ifi Power Supply, it was very thoughtful of you, many thanks.

That’s a great outcome and helpful to check these things I think. My biggest noise culprit was my old iMac on the same mains and Ethernet circuits. I never really appreciate the effect until after I upgraded the computer and discovered the improved hi-fi as a side effect. I think these noise issues are always very system and site specific but worth sorting out where we can,

I have now completed the collection of all the Jazz Hi-Res Blu-ray discs that are currently catalogged on the Discogs Website, its taken a few years, but been worth waiting for sensibly priced discs to come up for sale from around the world.

As you know, I also run a P1 directly into a power amp. In my case a Nagra Classic, instead of the Lumin amp like you.
Well on Saturday I took home a demo preamp from a local dealer to try between the P1 and amp.
My god, this is a revelation, music just envelopes me now, and it is like any missing info has been filled in.
The preamp has a separate power supply, kind of like Naim does it. I doubt you have heard of these, it’s a Canadian manufacturer.
Angela Gilbert Young makes the preamp, he also makes other electronics, all by hand. So do not discount what adding a good preamp can do.

Some professional reviewers of the P1, when it came out, said they preferred it with an external pre-amp and others preferred the P1 straight to a power amp using Leedh Volume Control, but none reviewed it with the Lumin Power Amp, which the P1 was optimised to work with.
It obviously depends on the particular matching with the power amp, where some will benefit from having a pre-amp too, like you have found with your system, which is good news for your improved sound quality.
For me, I’m very happy with my P1/Lumin Power Amp combination as they were designed to work optimally together. In fact, last week, I just upgraded my interconnect cables between the P1 and Power Amp with Chord Sarum T XLR cables from the Chord Signature XLR cables I had before and thats made a very nice improvement to the sound quality with more detail and clarity being heard, combined with a smoother, more analogue sound signature, so Im really happy with that upgrade.
Are you going to keep the pre-amp you demoed or try others before you decide what to do?
Yes I will be keeping it, I originally wanted a Nagra Pre, but they cost way too much for me.
This preamp is just over 3K, and you can add one of his power supplies, ranging from $600 to $8,200 dollars. I can’t wait to try a PS, it feels like I have found a secret elixir here, it is that good.
I am doing great too, busy at work, so upgrades are on the horizon.

I googled it - Angela-Gilbert Yeung watched a couple of video’s on the C310 and C312, all hand built to a very high standard, they look very impressive.

Paper oil? Please explain.
I did not build it, but I think it is a type of capacitor inside that you can send the signal through. I have flipped it on and off, the difference was subtle.
But, I borrowed a 1.5 million micro farad external power supply today, just to see/hear what it adds.
I only had a few minutes listening before I had to come to work, but as Mike said, these things are like audio crack cocaine.
