Yep all again, no criticism there. Sounds ideal
Dogma-yes indeed difficult to avoid. Ideally a little bit more self awareness is helpful. Otherwise, you have to call it out. Dreary I know

@30hertz sorry for drift
Good luck with the luxman. They are lovely pieces (I often lust after the M series power amp)
It can all be kept v simple - I bought a 2 box system, 222/250 , for my retirement. It’s unobtrusive , free of cable hassles and sounds absolutely brilliant.
Does it bring me more pleasure than my RP3/NAD 3020B/ Mission 70 Mk2’s in the mid to late 80’s? Absolutely not - no system can. The past is a foreign country…
Ha thanks! First impressions v good, though it’s a bit brighter than I expected, though may be as it’s still warming up. Detail is excellent as is the soundstage. It’s quality. Different to Naim - not better.
I have a WiiM Pro Plus. It was bought as a transport into a Chord Qutest DAC as source for a Nait 50. It arrived before the Chord so I was able to compare the WiiM on its own with having the DAC in the loop. To my ears: no contest, adding the DAC transformed the sound to the extent I would not use the WiiM without it. And my main system is in a different league again.
The WiiM is exceptionally good value for money, but that doesn’t mean the sound can’t be substantially improved for those fortunate enough to be able to afford pricier gear.

I just hope they don’t leave it too long. It was the long gap between discontinuing the 272 and introducing the 222, with no guarantee of any replacement at all, that pushed me towards Auralic and then Linn. Otherwise, I suspect there’d still be Naim boxes in my main system.
Roger
Oddly, over time I found myself hardening off to that (perhaps because where I currently live has more than its fair share of wind and rain!). When I first moved here (at 51), I only commuted by bike in reasonably fair weather. 3 or 4 years later with an interest in promoting active travel, I started keeping a record of my daily commuting and that gave me an incentive to increase, going from about 50% to about 65%, just avoiding the worst weather, and by the time I retired at 67 I had been doing 80+% for some time, only not cycling when there was ice or snow, or when I had a need of the car for something else. Doing things in my son’s houses – a bit like commuting to work every day - I only don’t cycle if it’s really foul in the morning. It does help to have good waterproofs all over!But leisure cycling like MTB I don’t normally do when it’s anything more than your shower, nor in gales.
I respect your opinion Roger. But, I think there is some expectation and confirmation bias in this hobby. One experiences more expensive gear, one perceives better sound quality. I include myself as having had these biases.
@crispyduck isn’t that the truth.
My first system of Micro Seiki DD40 with Harman Kardon power and pre with Kef 104 AB still sounds the best I’ve ever had.
I know that’s not true but it feels like it.
Discontinuing > introducing > discontinuing > introducing
You entered inside a circular 3rd dimension. 272 > 222 still not > Auralic > now waiting the resurrected Auralic.
Something is rolling around loose inside the case of my SN3, so I sometimes catch myself wondering what I’d replace it with.
Now that the XS3 and SN3 are officially discontinued, NAIM no longer offers something that is simple, somewhat “reasonably” priced for mere mortals, and designed for purists. The Uniti series has never been pure, simple NAIM to me but rather fancy.
If/when my SN3 and/or HCDR die and stop working, I won’t stick with NAIM. There’s nothing for me.
Nothing as of now. But that won’t necessarily remain the case.
It could be something that got caught under the transformer in the fabric. It’s not unknown for this to happen - it’s usually something like a blob of solder that then gets jarred loose some time later. It might be a good idea to unplug and then remove the sleeve to investigate as you don’t want it to find its way onto the circuit board.
Ah, but then I saw Linn shining away in a fourth dimension … and moved to a galaxy far, far away.
Roger
Wiim Ultra into my Klimax DSM/3 via async USB-B as a stop gap while waiting for Linn to get their act regarding lossless Spotify.
Ah, I missed that, of course. You are saved then ! ![]()
I assume removing the cover (sleeve) voids the warranty? (It was bought in 2019 so it might not be under warranty anymore.)
If you do it then likely yes, however you could tell your dealer about it and ask them to do it. They may be happy for you to do it though - the warranty contact is between you and the dealer and underwritten by distributor and Naim.
n.b. If it was bought new in 2019 then it’s now likely out of any extended warranty.
Yes, they can be a bit slow with that sort of thing. Still waiting/hoping for Qobuz Connect.

“NAIM no longer offers something that is simple, somewhat “reasonably” priced for mere mortals, and designed for purists”
This describes the NAIT 50 perfectly. If you can live with two inputs (plus phono) and lack of remote- it’s brilliant.
