Securing LP12 lid

I small issue but one that is vexing me. I don’t have enough room above my TT to lift the LP12 lid so I keep it loosely set on the plinth without hinges and remove it when playing records. But I have nightmares that without the hinges attached and used, it might get knocked by a cleaner/child etc. Does anyone know of a way to secure the lid in place without using the hinges. I am thinking of maybe some sort of flanges that align and secure teh lid position when place on the TT and protect it against any knocks. Thanks

Could you remove the springs from the hinges so that the bits that go in the slots on the back are permanently in the down position, ie so the whole hinge is effectively flat?

How about some little sticky bump-ons (black or transparent) on the plinth top to hold the lid in position when on the plinth. They should clean off easily enough if you wish to remove them in the future.
