Hi,
It is a bit of a mess at the back of my system. Power cables, speaker cables, signal cables. Most cables bundled together.
Is it worth the trouble to organize the cables a bit and separate the power cables from the signal cables?
Bye Jan.

Yes.
Maybe I should consider a new rack having an open back to place my system in. It currently is in a cupboard with a closed back in which I made a round hole for all the cables. Not a nice task to re-organize all the cables in a cupboard like that. Need to take everything out and create additional holes
It very much is worth the trouble. I bought 5 years ago my ovators and I had a hard time getting them to work properly. One of the things which really helped getting rid of high sibilance was to ensure the power cables were separated from the power leads.
OK, that is something for a vacation or a weekend. That will require some work, but sounds like worth the trouble.
Depending on the type of cupboard, you might consider removing the back completely rather than just making holes in it. This allows the cables to hang more freely, and may also help with cooling.
Yes, I was thinking of that too. I have to check if that would not affect structural integrity. But it’s a good idea.
you could perhaps add a couple of cross members if necessary to brace it.
ND555 owners?
I will take the opportunity to review the used cables. But that has to wait until time (and money) is available. But sounds like a good plan for a bit of optimization.
Naim units are designed internally to separate power, signal & speaker, this separation is carried through to the unit in/out connections where they have the connection points in the same specific areas (left right or centre) of the case conne ction panel. So with Naim it’s quite easy to make a real tidy job of it.
I take it further by making my own cables (power & IC’s) to minimise excess cable lengths and loops, that can make a real difference tidy wise.
Very good @Fatcat
Organizing and separating the power and signal cables is worth the trouble.
And don’t forget that the best upgrade is always peace of mind.
Naim power cables and many signal cables are also non shielded meaning making them more sensitive to noise. Always keep signal and power cables apart.
