Sitting here with extreme frustration wondering why the Naim app (7.1.1) on my phone doesn’t seem to connect my Qute to my UPnP server. It’s been unreliable for a while.
Now I just got my iPad 2 out of hibernation to see how much generally it still works (most apps not longer work) but Naim app version 5.18 on it connects instantly!
@Naim, can you please sort out connectivity to your (not very) older products? It’s a good job I appreciate the physical engineering and sound quality of the product otherwise I would have moved on.
Could it be that whatever the current app is on, and the old iPad, are somehow on different networks or different frequencies. It would be worth checking the pad and then ensuring the other one matches.
I had my device automatically connecting to my guest wifi once, without me realising it. So it could not connect to my network devices. Maybe worth checking?
At any time, you can allow or revoke an app’s access to the local network: In Settings, go to Privacy & Security* > Local Network to see a list of every app that requested access.
I have the same issues with my Naim Unity Nova (with Android). It is driving me insane. If I restart the unity nova it will connect briefly and then nothing. To make it worse is that it is connected directly to my lan. The issue started in the last 2 months
My gripe with the app is that it keeps adding Spotify as a service even though it’s disabled . Otherwise it’s acceptable - volume numeric would be nice 'though.
(it’s nowhere near the Wiim app, however)
I just hope Naim Audio sort this dreadful mess before the release of the Statement streamer. Although such a piece of equipment will not be accessible to me, I can see that those fortunate enough to be able to consider it will be mightily pi**ed off if their purchase is ruined by an inadequate control point app. It seems that Naim Audio need to invest some money in the recruitment of a coder who can cope with the challenge!
The pause, next track, and prior track buttons don’t always work for the first (and maybe second) track I play. After that they work. This is true for my Muso 2 and mu QB2. I haven’t tested my Nova or my ND5 XS2. And it is true for my iPhone 15 and iPad 9. Using the most recent iOS versions and up to date firmware.
Most of the
inconsistency
fail to connect
fail to find the streamer
fail to find a local server
type of issues can be fixed by using a better WiFi access point.
We fixed all the issues of these types that occurred in our system by upgrading the WAP to a pair of TP-Link Deco WAPs energised using PoE, so needing only one cable to each WAP. (Other competent WAPs systems are available.)
Typically, it is only the Naim app I have issues with on my home network. My tumble dryer is always available. No need to turn off/on 5 GHz, move it closer to the WAP, etc. Everything is just there when needed.
My NDX2 (Wi-Fi connected) used to be rock solid. Now, on Android, it’s a PITA. iPad, fine.
