My boxes probably need a service, but what is the best order to do it?
A. 4x135s
B. Power supply
B.1 2x supercap (52 & Snaxo)
B.2 1x NDS PS
B.3 1x PS Nat2
C head units
1x NDS
1x 52
Naim will repair an NDS where possible, but they don’t offer a service so you can cross that one off your list.
For the rest, do you need to stagger the servicing? Once you have lost enough boxes to have no music, you may as well get them done so that you can get everything set up and move on. Personally I would call Class A and discuss the possibility of taking them in one or more batches. Safer to drive them there yourself if you can.
I would service the 135’s first then the Supercaps, if you can’t do these all at once.
If they all are in the service window, keep saving and do them all at once. Otherwise you’ll be continually behind the performance curve and burning in something or other.
My gear is also entering the service window together in a couple years. Given the costs of shipping back to the UK, I’m likely to do one of:
- Run everything way past the service window hoping costs come down in 5 years or I get richer.
- An unofficial self service and recap.
- Sell it all on eBay and start again.
I do think buying and servicing stuff in one go is a lot simpler than having to constantly have a bit from the system missing over a couple years.
I agree probably best done as a batch, one period without kit and everything updated together. Also happy to recommend Class A.
If you absolutely must do piecemeal then 135s and power supplies first. A healthy SNAXO SCap is vital for active performance in my experience so maybe first on the list? Note the SNAXO itself also needs servicing after a while. I did my rather old one earlier this year to good effect. Not expensive.
Ultimately avoiding overdue service on any of your equipment is false economy in my view. I bet a lot of upgrading could be avoided by people servicing existing kit.

Thanks guys for your advice - seems best to do it all in one go.
Not authorised Naim though.
Use the Naim authorised route. You’ll then be able to rest assured that the job was done properly. Plus if/when the time to sell comes along, an item with a non Naim authorised servuce history will be much more sifficult to sell and the price achieved lower than otherwise.
Would members please respect and abide by forum rules - use of unauthorised servicers is not recommended and discussion of same (unauthorised modifications) is not permitted here. Thank you.
Apologies @Richard.Dane mea culpa - had not realised that they were not an authorised source.
