Show clock while in stand-by on Uniti Star

Dear Naim-friends,

I’m a happy owner of a Uniti Star and enjoy it every day. One small feature that I (and I believe many other users) would find very useful is the ability to have a digital clock displayed on the screen while the device is in standby (Network Standby mode).

Currently, the screen goes dark in standby, and the only way to see the time is to press the “clock” button on the remote, which only shows it temporarily. It would be great to have an optional setting where the clock remains visible as a screensaver or low-power standby display.

This would not only make the unit more functional in a living room setup, but also align with what many users expect from modern devices with displays.

Could Naim consider adding this to the firmware roadmap for the Uniti Star (and maybe also Nova/Atom) in a future update?

Thanks in advance, and I’d be curious to hear if other Uniti owners would appreciate this feature too.

Best regards,

It’s been mentioned before.

It’s not a feature I would ever use, but if enough people want it I suppose it might be an option you could enable.
Or buy a clock for a few £.

Well, a clock that always displays accurate time (because it synchronises with NTP) and automatically switches to/from daylight saving time costs more than a few pounds…

Hi Frans,

Showing a clock while in ‘network’ standby would take us over the EU legal limit of max 2watts at the mains.

To implement such a feature needs it designing in at an early stage and typically a display that has a very long display, or display can operate in a reduced power mode.

Overall, this feature won’t be coming to the Uniti Star, sorry!

Steve

Dear Naim Staff,
Thank you for your response. I understand your concerns. It’s not a big deal, but I just thought it would be a nice addition.
Kind regards,
Frans
