They look well made and for £65, hard to believe in this day and age!
They are indeed very nicely put together.

Great. There I was quite happy with my Mogami’s… why did I have to look at this thread. ![]()
Not an expensive experiment to see if the VDXKE works for you though? It might not of course.

Thanks. Graeme. It might be worth a try.
Glad you’re enjoying your set up and music.![]()
I’ve tried several different types of footers on my 40A .. Gaia’s didn’t care for them. They made the sound less defined sort of overly diffused. Next I tried the stock spikes with the Linn Skeets. It was ok but I just didn’t like it , not sure why. I think the bass was a bit weak. Whats interesting is when I first got the ATC’s I kind of just plopped them down,l right on the floor but I did position them . They sounded really good .
I’d like to mention I’d been using a Chord Dave as my Preamp/ Dac..So after several months of listening I came to the conclusion that the Dave is a fantastic Dac but just an ok preamp. I decided the ATC’s needed a much better preamp. My friend who’s been in the hifi business for YEARS suggested to demo a T+A DAC 200 to make the story shorter I sold my Dave and bought the T+A and the system sounds significantly better. And I’ve still got the ATC’s directly on the floor with no spikes or anything. Maybe I’ll put a couple hundred hours on the T+A before looking at footers.
I plonked mine on the floor for positioning but got an uplift from spikes and a bigger one with the Auva’s - I guess all rooms are different.
@NigelB @Tony One negative aspect I’ve begun to notice is, in comparison with the Mogami, vocals are sounding a tad ‘hollowed-out’ and imprecise. This is robbing the music of a certain energy. I’m playing Genesis ‘Seconds Out’ and swapping between the two cables and the Mogami presentation has more life about it.
Swings and roundabouts.

Thank you for the update, Graeme. I think I’ll stick with the Mogami tor now. As they say why fix it if it ain’t broken.

Thanks Graeme.
I would be grateful to know if there is any run in effect with the Van Damme XLRs or if their signature changes.
I assume your Mogami are already run in.
Mogami well ‘run-in’ …if indeed there is such a thing.

Go Mogami!!!
Maybe I missed it, but did you get the issue resolved?
Getting difficult to join the ‘SUYATC’s’ club at the moment, apparently ATC have had three pairs of active 20’s ‘damaged in transit’, again apparently their entire demo stock and awaiting new cabinets….
Perhaps the packaging isn’t up to the…….

My ATC 19’s were individually boxed and the packaging was perfect to protect them
I unboxed the speakers and they were both in perfect condition with no damage or faults whatsoever
Then, to employ the current euphemism, ATC misspoke ![]()

My Mogami’s are arriving tomorrow. They are bound to be best ![]()
I’ve also just fitted a T-Kable to my LP12 and noticed they have Mogami written all down them.
Interestingly I briefly compared my current Sommer LLX Supercap to XLR into 20asls with Linn silver XLRs. There is no way I’d spend Linn money. Good job I won the auction for the T-Kable ![]()
I’m curious why is it that you folks buy great gear then use mediocre cables? Mogami? Van dam ? At least something from Chord Cables would be appropriate. It’s like putting crap tires on a Porsche. Ok I’m getting set for the backlash ![]()
It’s simple. I was all up for the Linn Silver XLRs until I heard them against my ‘Mediocre” Sommers and I just couldn’t justify the cost. So, I’m going to run with the Mogamis until I demo a better front end at which point I’ll have another listen.
@n-lot Yes I now have a new set of speakers. ATC came to my house to look at the speakers. I think their general feeling was that the visible join was not a big issue. I pointed out that I’ve never seen a joint in speaker cabinets before.
Anyway, they were very receptive to the fact that I was not completely satisfied and were keen to resolve the issue and offered me a new set which I accepted.
Something a little strange…..they indicated that it was more difficult to get a really clean finish on cherry finished speakers. I said that I would be happy with oak if they couldn’t get a really good finish on a new cherry set.
When the speakers arrived the boxes said “cheery” but when we took the speakers out they looked like oak to me and the dealer. No problem quite happy with the finish. Dealer subsequently told me that the colour is now the standard cherry finish. Not convinced but very happy with the new speakers.
