Thank you - sadly, Naim’s SL cables (well, mine have), have a black box near the ends, which restricts the ability to split as yours is. I’ll re-review, as I wondered if this would be better.

Hi HL,
I played around with all the various options when I home demo’d passive 50’s. I heard no differences …

Me too. I heard no worthwhile difference/improvement in moving the cables between the connectors when I home demo’d passive 50s a few months ago. I just could not them to work in my room, despite frequent repositioning. Somewhat surprised me as it’s not a small room. A clear demonstration of the absolute necessity of testing speakers at home before buying.

IMHO, they are very good, being neutral and offering plentiful detail and power handling, but your space has to agree with them, which is the biggest and often unfathomable challenge. And, there are always pluses and minuses.

Hi HL,
I bought a pre-owned pair of ATC CSM40s that arrived without the bridging plates normally supplied by ATC. I had a temporary workaround using some solid core copper jumpers ( sounded horrible), but swapped these out for Chord Signature X jumpers (much improved). Running KS-1 speaker cable from both Krell and Naim power amps, I couldn’t recognise any difference in performance between any of the 3 possible passive set ups.

To be honest the difference’s will only be evident on the most revealing systems, and only noticeable over time when you switch back you can hear a less together sound less cohesive as the hifi talk say’s but it’s only slightly. On the 50’s the bars they use are so good so you don’t need to use jumpers like you do on the 40’s. You can remove the black boxes with a single screw they are only meant for Naim speakers and amps not necessary for atc speakers. Have you tried other cables other than Naca 5?

Thanks – I’ve left my SuperLumina cables alone, noting other feedback. I suspected the change, if any, would be small, as the plates/bars are very tight, unlike some I’ve seen.

Grilles off :ok_hand:

Cat behaving at the moment ?

Off only for the photograph. The downside of actives is that they’re warm!

To be fair, I’ve only seen her up there twice.

Normally when I’m listening she’s -
