R5 mark ii on it’s way…
I am thinking of making the jump into full frame.
Anyone using the Sony E system?
I am looking at the a7CII. I would pair it with Sony’s own 24-70 2,8 lens.
I like the small form factor and retro look of the a7CII.
What system, if any, do you currently use?
I currently use a Sony RX10 Mark IV. It is a very good all around camera.
For many years, I had Canon DSLRs (with mirrors) and a full bag of lenses.
Aha, do you still have the Canon lenses?
No. I sold off my Canon gear years ago.
Can’t help then. Sorry. I know nothing about Sony range!
I recently grabbed a couple of Canon’s “pancake” lenses. An EF-S 24mm f2.8 for my wife’s 100D and an EF 40mm f2.8 for my 5D4 (around a hundred squid each s/h from LCE).
They’re so small & light that I can see both getting a lot of use for not-too-serious strolling-around-town scenarios.
Arrived today.
Only had chance to set up and try out on cats and garden the way you do first day. Awesome bit of kit. I thought the R was clever, the R6 better still, this is another dimension.
I use the RF16 and 28mm lots. Small, light and uber convenient.
Looking forward to seeing more of the cats on the Pets thread.
Likely, the cat eye focus is awesome!
Looking forward to your aviation pictures.
Thx, last one for the year at Duxford in a couple of weeks, I suspect focus is going to be rather easier!
I’m going to the Sanicole Air Show next week. Practiced on an NH90 last week, which went fine - especially, the electronic shutter proved fast enough for the spinning rotors. I’ll post one in the pictures thread.
Just had a look, that’s a great line up. Very jealous.
Looking for some advice!
I purchased myself an OM Systems 150-600 F5-6.3 lens and I’m not really feeling the love from it. I got it for longer range shots of birds, most of the time I use 1/2000 shutter speed with the lens wide open but still have a tiny bit of blur, all handheld. Can any one please give me a helping hand with technique or have I got a dodgy lens.
The OM Systems 100-400 F5-6.3 I have no problems with or the 300 F4 and also hand holding my Pentax 150-450 which is a bit of a beast.
Cheers
Tim
Put it on a tripod, lock the mirror up and take shots of a brick wall wide open. Manual focus. Look at the results. Is it sharp?
Are these birds static or in flight? Is the AF on your cameras optimised for birds in flight?
I ask because I’m a Canon shooter and there is loads of info out there about how to optimise the cameras for different AF shooting situations, and though I don’t shoot birds in flight, these are included. It could be the same for Olympus.
If you are concerned with camera shake on the longer lens, would a monopod help?
