Me too, well Q2 and an M10Mono
I wouldn’t mind an M of some description, the whole idea of a quality digital camera in a compact format appeals, I am not going to want long lenses 90mm at the most and that would be pushing it, 75mm is probably more likely at the long end.
My worry surrounds my need to wear glasses to see anything beyond the pages of a book clearly and how I would get on focusing a M. I’m obviously fine with my Q and my SL2 as both are AF, the SL2 is also very usable with my manual focus Nikon lenses - nice bright viewfinder, focus peaking and one button magnification for checking that you have the focus spot on.
Overall I wonder whether a M with its rangefinder focusing would work for me, I still use a Nikon FM2n for occasional film photography outings so maybe I’d be okay with a M. I guess that I need a trip to London to spend some time in one of the Leica stores and have a play to see if cracking open the piggy bank is a good idea.
I’ve photographed using technical cameras for more than 20 years and though I also now use a GFX II handheld for some work, my technical camera is still my main tool of choice. Originally I shot 5x4 (Linhof Technikardan) with mostly transparency film and some 10x8 for black and white. Now I use a digital back with a Cambo Actus DB most of the time. Here is my camera whilst out last Thursday working on my latest project.
A few of us accidentally started diverting another thread talking about photography influences and inspiration. Anyone interested in my starting a thread on that in the Lounge?
Yes. That sounds a good idea.
Please do,
Ian
Done!
Well it’s going a happen a Leica M is going to join the camera collection.
I’m off to London on Thursday where I’m cracking open the savings piggy bank, I will be spending some of the kids inheritance and having some fun with a new (well new to me) analogue Leica.
Very much looking forward to doing it, even have SWMBO’s permission to splash the cash.
Disgraceful behaviour.
OTOH, I am attempting (and indeed succeeding) to grow old disgracefully!
I love the idea of contact printing those, possibly onto sheets of Agfa Record Rapid etc.
And lenses..??
That’s the only way to grow old.

Maybe one or two;
Leica or Voigtlander to be determined on the day, probably go with Voigtlander as they are good lenses without the Leica price tag.
Camera porn photos will be required ![]()
You will need Proof of Age ID if you are in the UK ![]()
Or a VPN …. apparently ![]()

That’s what we’re doing, fun times.
Got no kids, so great fun.
Buy what, when we want, even better fun.
DG…
I see Sony have released an RX1R III, maybe the camera for my visit to Japan?
Tim.
Tempting. Pricey but tempting. I always fancied one of the earlier ones but somehow Sony’s handling/menus and things don’t tick for me. Though personally I get on with 28mm better so would more likely pick a Leica. But the Sony is a bit less ‘look at me!’
Q3 Jamie. You know you want to.
