My Canon A1 has a bad cough.

It shouldn’t have a cough, but I quite like it.

My M8 lasted 10 years before the shutter exploded! I used it with a 40 ‘cron, a great value lens and, with the crop factor, nearly a standard 50.

Long may your 9 last.

Always an Olympus owner, from a battered OM 1 to my last film camera, an OM 4Ti which was just a perfect thing. I now have a couple of digital OM-D bodies that are very good to use, and some nice lens options

However a shout for my little all-purpose Olympus Tough TG6. I have used and abused mine for several years, it is frequently wet, muddy and bashed about and, scuffs aside, it is perfect. Good images, simple interface and so far indestructible. I hope they keep making the series.

As we’re having an Olympus love-in.

I’m always intrigued when I see these out and about - a lot of digital SLRs over the holiday break. Completely agree that the iPhone is a super capable camera, able to outclass most others and win awards, etc. So what’s the fascination with these? Is it comparable to some of us obsessed with vinyl and other analogue tech??

Just curious as I’m not part of the camera cognoscenti but love a good photo…

My Digilux 2. Slow, clunky and bit of a pita in use. Takes rather decent pics though with a nice in camera b&w rendering. Wonderful lens.

It’s just the circle of people that you’re interacting with. Ask these Enfield/Whitehouse characters forcing their opinions on us to show their amazing shots and they disappear.

The iPhone has some qualities. It has a superb dynamic range in one take, but on the other hand, still very limited dynamic range. I take it the firmware is far more advanced than any of the usual Nikon, Canon, etc, products. I wish they would learn from Apple. It also takes amazing panoramas in one take. You can also place the lens where you can’t place a slr. The best feature is you can take them into concerts and annoy everyone around you.

One of the best cameras ever to be designed. Pure class and the first. Bought mine in 1983 and I think it was about £200-£220. That was a lot. Got a motor drive for it, but it never quite sounded as sweet as a Nikon motor drive.

My Leica M10-R black paint edition with 28mm Summicron.

Our iphones do >99% of all our photos these days but sometimes when out or on a trip I would take with me this one with the 56mm 1.2 - for those still untouchable by a phone camera portrait or street photography shots.

I’ve had two. The first was nicked at San Francisco airport.

I bought the motor drive with the first one in ‘79. I think they called it a “Power Winder” (2fps), coz they had a more expensive & faster version). Couple of Vivitar Series 1 zooms as well, that I thought about including in the pic. All bought in Baltimore and NYC. And duly declared at Heathrow on my return - the customs guy was delighted as I rocked up with a full set of receipts - a good move. He was another camera buff and indeed had been reading Amateur Pornographer as I rolled up. Long friendly chat, and no hassle.

It was my SLR for 20+ years until I went digital with 450D, 7D, and now 5D4

Haha yes the magazine was like that. I remember one of the front covers with Linda Lusardi in about 1985. I think I still have it. Thanks for the memories!

Que?

It was your D SLR?
