Damn. I was hoping you were going to say they were very similar… !
I will tell you more when my HD800s are back
Hi @Kacper. Yes, I run my Heed Canalot headphone amp straight from the RCA analogue output on the NDX2 with the SN2 connected by the DIN output. I actually switch outputs on the NDX2 when I switch between headphones and speakers. For headphones, I select the RCA output, turn of system automation and then turn on the variable volume control. Then I leave the Canalot at a fixed volume level and control the volume through the amp or the NDX2 remote, which is all very easy. When using speakers I select the DIN output and system automation. You could select DIN and RCA and then just mute the SN, and change from system automation to variable volume when using the headphones if you want.
By the way, as anyone have experienced change the goddam pads of their respective headphones?
It took me at least 15minutes each. And at the middle of the process i was starting to get the idea of Sell the headphones.
Any pair that doesnt Need for changes/ or brands with a more simple system? ( besides Grado )
Thoughts?!
Lol…my sympathies! That plastic (?) flap looks like it could be an awkward cuss.
Audeze are stick on… which means peel off the old ones. It’s not hard I guess, but can be fun…line it up just so, check seams match, realize they don’t quite, peel off…
My old Ultrasones - they were a nightmare. Click in - fall off - repeat…used to drive me nuts.
I must have hurt someone…
Ah, yes, sorry I think that only works with the new streamers. You’d have to use the volume control on the headphone amp. But I think connecting directly to the NDX is the way to go to minimise extra circuitry.
Good to see another pair of Sonus Fabers. Mine are the Coffee and Cream versions at the start of the thread. What do you think of them? Personally I really like them and find they work well from the output from an I-pad as well as a Hifi system. They are also high sensitivity which makes them compatible with a range of devices.
Find them very comfortable and most of all so stylish. Only tried them so far on various I devices with a dragonfly black and very happy with the sound quality.
Picked up a used Chord Shawcan cable for my Quad Era-1s from the bay. Subtle difference vs the stock cable. Enjoying music in peace in the garden whilst we have this awesome weather in the UK.
Both get plugged into the Violectric 281. The Focals a bit more.
I Sir. Question: how good the Focal’s / And do compare with the M2? ( just because i have one too.)
Ou, by the way: did you have the oportunity to read my post above, about changing pads? Did you ever changed yours?
Thanks in advance…
Focals are great. 7 times better than the M2, no. The M2’s are bass heavy. No mids. The Focals do all. Ok, so not so much bass. But natural.
I changed the pads because the focal material is not good. Hard to clean. Ok, so the Pros are red rather than grey. I changed out to the black. Nicer feel and easier to clean.
I used to have those 305’s and I loved them. When my dad would tell me to “turn that crap off” on they would go. I can still smell the aqua velva.
Change pads on my M2’s? No. But I ought to. Where did you buy yours?
I changed mine for the inevitable peel of the “leather”,
by buying on Amazon, from a Chinese manufacturer.*
All good: If oficially would cost me almost 50€ a pair of earmuffs, doing this aproach made the total cost drop to 6,5€ each pair (bought 2) plus 7€ to deliver.
@Richard.Dane (i dear sir. i’m i allowed to put a link related to a comercial service?*)
Amazon. Never thought of going there. Sennheiser traditionally have been good at supplying spare parts. My hd600’s were supported after more than 20 years.
I got very very close to not buying the Focals because they didn’t allow you to change the headband. And their pads were stupid money. Although, to be fair, the Pros come with spares.
But the sound won me over. Dam you Focal.
I usually am the type of person who buys and make maintenance, with original parts/manufacture. IE.: car; Watch …
But in honesty, for what it is, i wouldnt give 50€ for cushions to a 250€ headphones.
Cardoso, no commercial links in the Hifi Corner, please. Thank you.
